Downey Theatre

Orquesta Akokan did not disappoint. This orchestra out of Havana Cuba, has embodied the soul and passion of the cuban music from the 50’s, reminiscent of the great Beni Moré bringing both the Mambo and ChaCha to life in their full glory . Fantastic vocals and charisma from their lead singer who entertained the crowd with his great dance moves. Not to mention some savory percussion blocks, which they broke into full blown rumbas within the consigns of their swinging style! Five Star Performance. Viva Cuba Carajo!

This is the 3rd time I went to their concert, however, this is the 1st time I have been to Downey Theater. I would go again to this location for Gaslamp was a little too crowded. Previously, I went to Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden and oh boys, I decide to stick with Strange love concerts instead. They are much more "Depeche Mode" than the "real" band with all 4 band members. When are they coming to the Hollywood Bowl?

Before the show, sprang my knee so I did'nt make it hopefully I can see her at the casino show. I know she will give a good show.

Taylor Dayne's performance was energetic, flawless and she radiated love! Too bad the sound mix was poor. It was just loud, you couldn't really make out the instruments and she was buried in the mix. Sheena Easton's style was totally different- more traditional and she sang well.

Will never forget this experience. Had the time of my life!!
