This was my second FTP show and they have such a great stage presets and do not disappoint by mixing the original song up just a bit that you notice a change but and thrilled to take the ride with them. I’ve watched 1000’s of live acts and FTP will always hold a very special spot in my heart Mark Foster and the crew did amazing. Live sound quality is top notch my hat is off to there touring sound engineer.
both Foster the people and Good Neighbors were incredible! my friend and I were both pleasantly surprised at how well most of their songs translated to live music. my only issue was the crowd (at least where i was standing) had zero concert edict and were shoving my friend and i around, but obviously thats not really the band or the venue’s fault. solid concert, i’d go again if given the chance :)
They came out at 8:30 as soon as I showed up didn’t need to wait in line security was quick and tickets checkout was good and got a 21 and over fast and the drinks were good at the bar overall the band was amazing and the venue clean and easy access to bathroom and overall a good experience
Mod sun, No love and Honestav were fantastic, especially Mod and his band. But more than half the crowd left after ModSuns set. I’m not sure if there was a venue curfew issue or what but Mod should have played last as a very large majority of the crowd was there for him and 85% of the merch on sale was also his.
waterparks were amazing performers! the venue policy on wearing chains is unclear at ALL and the sound quality wasn't super great. also, the people who worked on the band set (visuals as well as the audio) didn't do the best job in making sure the set was 100%. 4/5 stars bec their performance was 10/10
Speed of light were a nice surprise of the future of punk. The dwarves were great as expected since they have been playing almost as long as punk began. Bad Religion was amazing as always and hopefully they continue to come to Salt Lake and continue bringing opening bands that keep the dying punk scene alive.
Great concert! I went to this show with my daughter and we hung around the back of the venue with a small group of fans afterwards and Dean and his band came out and played three songs and took photos with each and everyone that was there. What a great guy to do that for his fans.
Cedric sung his heart out and Omar played the guitar with excellent skill. They both worked the stage very well! Was impressed with the musician that played cello, saxophone, and keyboards! Great talent! Got my husband a Mars Volta sweat shirt and he bought a t-shirt as well. Also impressed with the staff and security at the Union Event center. The venue was larger than I expected. Plenty of space for fans. Overall a great experience!
Outstanding show. The Mars Volta did not disappoint whatsoever. The sound was amazing, as were the lights and overall atmosphere. Easily one of the better concerts I have ever attended. The venue was also on point. The staff was extremely helpful and very positive. Incredible experience. Thank you to The Mars Volta, and the Union Event Center for a great night.
I had a killer time at this concert, with the aches and stubbed toes to prove it. But the openers weren't all that good. They didn't fit the vibe of the band and were quite vulgar. I don't mind swearing at all, but it kind of pissed me off that the openers didn't take into consideration the fact that there were children in the crowd. Other than that, I definitely recommend and hope to attend one of these concerts again! (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Wolf and his band were great, but the sound could have been better. It was a small venue, and the sound was so loud that you couldn’t really hear the songs. It would have been nice to actually hear them play. That being said, the fan interaction was great. Wolfie was like someone you know that is a lot cooler than they think they are. I’m excited for the new album.
super down and they cared about their fans ! when someone needed to get out or we’re about to pass out they stopped all the chaos and waited until people were good again ! they also told everyone to take a few steps back, and we sang little covers in between songs so people wouldn’t get too chaotic again ! they really care about us and sound exactly the same live ! i love them i love them i love them i love them ♡
From the start, it was clear something was wrong with Brian Fallon. He was having a hard time hitting notes, and his voice was cracking a little. After a few songs, he left the stage for a few minutes, then returned and explained, in a very hoarse voice, that he could barely talk and was having a hard time singing. He said he wanted to keep going if the crowd agreed, but he would stop the show and reschedule if not. He said he might have to modify some songs if they kept playing. The crowd overwhelmingly wanted to continue. It ended up being a strong show. They played a toned-down but very effective version of "Great Expectations," and on several songs, the crowd picked up slack on the lyrics. The band was energetic, the music sounded great, and the crowd was into the show despite the problems. I hope to be able to see them when they're at their best, but I'm glad I was there for this one.
Brian Fallon was sick or had a sore throat so his vox were a little low, but they made up for it by playing their instruments extra hard. Really solid band who did their best to let the show go on. Even at less than a hundred percent I was glad I finally got to see them. Will definitely check them out if they come back again at full strength.
The band sounded great, and I liked the song selection. They also did a Lou Reed/Velvet Underground medley they was a nice surprise. But Ian McCulloch seemed to be sick. His singing deteriorated as the show progressed, and he sat down most of the show. He lacked energy. Of course, it wasn't his fault, but I think it would have been better to postpone.
My wife and I went to the Salt Lake City show last night. We followed the band through reviews from the beginning so we knew the performance would be all about how Ian was feeling. We may have gotten the best show of the tour so far!! Ian was out for the entire show without having to leave the stage. Dude standing next to me said he saw them about 6 years ago and said the show last night was the better of the two. I thought he was amazing. He bantered with the crowd and at one point was joking about himself doing a bad Irish impersonation. He joked tongue in cheek with us on one of our "sing-a-longs" that is he was impressed that 10 of us knew the words. Compared to what I've read previously, we got Ian on his best night!
It was amazing. Ross and Rocky and Riker and everyone put on a great show.
The venue people were nice but they could have handled barricade better. They set up a temporary barricade and then set up the actually barricade so it was a free for all to get to the second barricade and I’m lucky I still got my spot cause I had been there hours before anyone else got there but I got separated from most my friends ):
So amazing!! I went with my mom and my little sister, she literally raised us on The Offspring, I’m 29 not going to expose her age lol and it was her first time seeing them as well! Best concert ever, they played all the classics we grew up with and we sang along!
As a person who goes to a TON of concerts, I like extreme shows like death metal and gangster rap shows most of all. The wildest shit you’ll attend in their respective genre. This show, I completely underestimated. I have a soft spot for the offspring and they killed it! Had a blast and actually have battle scars from the pit to prove it. Them bodybuilding Christians rag dolled me in the pit and it was so much fun. Don’t miss a Utah offspring concert!
I thought the 2 opening bands were an unexpected bonus. Having never heard of either, I thought they effing rocked!
Lzzy Hale wailed! Her band mates were equally great.
👎🏻On the volume level of Lzzy’s mic! Even while standing 15 feet from the stage and knowing practically every song, most vocals were unintelligible! Honestly the worst sound of any indoor concert I’ve seen in over 25 years.
