You can never go wrong going to a Solas show! I have seen them 6 times and they never fail to put on an amazing show, Wonderfully talented musicians who truly love their craft! If the world was a fair place, these people would be super stars!
Excellent SOLD OUT show! Acoustics were great. Not a bad seat in the house. So good to hear Duane play some of Dad's songs. Wild and Precious Life is awesome! He was even kind enough to sign autographs and pose for pictures after the show.
Exhilarating! Wish they would have interacted with the audience a little bit more. Not sure if rhythm guitarist is original band member. Seemed a bit out of sync with lead guitarist. Regardless, it still was a memorable experience in a wonderful concert venue.
Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore put on an incredible show at this former 1st Baptist church (the congregation moved to a larger church just down the street).
Backed by "the guilty ones" (Lisa Pankratz, drums, Brad Fordham,
bass & Chris Miller, guitar) the band was amazingly tight and playful. The solos were amazing in every respect.
To date, this was the best live show I've seen so far this year.
Wonderful show ; the show was about 2hrs and 15 minutes long. Eric Johnson is one of the best guitarists to see and we have seen him twice at Homer Center For The Performing Arts where every seat sounds great !At the end of the show he did an 11+ minute rendition of Cliffs of Dover that was Outstanding !!! The 3 man band was just perfect as far as sound goes; we can't wait until next time he comes around - GREAT SHOW +++++
We had a great time. The crowd seemed to really appreciate her music, both new and old. The dynamic with the band was nice to see as well. Signaling each other with just a glance or movement is always fun to see. Kathleen's story is such a motivating one too. To have stepped back and then now have returned to music is heartwarming. The songs just resonate and inspire. I first heard an interview with Kathleen and Scott Simon on NPR back in 2020. It's nice to have finally gotten to see her. My friend and I just love the venue and really had a great time. We look forward to the next time she comes to Homer. Meanwhile, if she comes to your area, be sure to go see Kathleen! Her opener and friend Matt Sucich has a great sound and some nice lyrics as well. Be sure to check him out too!
The show was great. There was nice energy and the sound was wonderful. The Homer Center for the Arts venue is super small holding only 400 people and makes for a very intimate setting. I've seen the Allman Brothers way back decades ago, and I've seen Duane with the Allman Betts band. This night he showed how he has taken his father's style of music and made it his own. I find the sound on his albums to be one I really like to listen to. Live he added some nice twists to a few. As someone who also plays guitar, it just makes it fun to listen to. I like watching when they improvise to see how and where they are going with a song, and then how they know the cues for when to bring it back. It just makes me smile inside. You might say that Duane's songs and his playing style allow a listener to either sit back and take it all in, or you can listen intently to follow the melody and appreciate how it all fits together. Additionally, for those who haven't seen the rest of his band, his fellow guitarist Johnny Stachella is a truly outstanding musician who has mastered the use of the slide in the style of Duane Allman. Pedro Arevalo on bass guitar is a joy to watch. His energy and playing style involving using a pick, finger picking, and strumming all in sequence gives a really great sound. Vince Fossett on the drums has all the tricks needed. His keyboard player this night, Max was right on the spot with the sound and the solos. He fit in just great. I wish Duane the best and look forward to the next show!
I loved the concert so much! I got to see them when they came six years prior, had a blast, and had an even better time now! I love you guys, I always hope you come back to play =)
Great venue and great show. Hayes and Brandy told awesome stories. Played well of each other. Oh and the music was great. Only drawback were the few drunk fans that kept interrupting the performance.
GA-20 performed at the NYState Bluesfest in 2022 and blew me away. When I saw they were going to perform in Homer, NY I got tickets right away. They didn’t disappoint. What a band! Come back and see us soon GA-20!
I was at the concert in Homer and I felt it was about average. I thought it was too loud to fully enjoy the experience. I saw Mark Erelli a very long time ago in Rochester and he was tremendous, and still is! I mainly wanted to see him. I didn't know who Lori McKenna was. I was kind of bored with Lori's songs and personally I found her voice somewhat unpleasant; that's just my own preference of course, everyone else seemed to really like her. I would have loved a concert featuring Mark Erelli instead.
The theater was a bit chilly for my liking but that must be hard to regulate to make everyone happy.
So, my main issue would be that it was just to loud for me and my wife...And I'm 71 years old with some mind hearing lose.
Great show. Very tight group. Dave is an exceptional guitar play. Drummer is very good, Bass player holds it all together. Dale and Dave work together like seasoned veterans.
Came from Simcoe Ontario to see show ( 5 hour drive ) would do it again.
It was one of the most phenomenal performances that I have ever seen. Her music was soul nurturing! The band was musically spot on …some of the best musicians on the planet! And to top it all off.. Meshell at the end of the performance came to the edge of the stage and shook hands with all that could get to the front row. The whole show was mind blowing!
It was short a little over a hour. I enjoyed the music. She and her band were great! I was disappointed they didn’t bring cds. I saw one man got a poster signed by her. Hope she comes again and prepared to here how much we appreciated her.
The band was tight but the house sound was a little off. Hopefully they will check that in the future at the venue.
After all the years I finally got to see her live and followed her for decades. She’s a spiritual force with the voice and musicality to transcend any audience.
I have seen Richard Thompson many times. The man simply never disappoints. His guitar playing leaves the audience breathless and he is masterful and expressive singing his amazing lyrics. The Center for the Arts is a great venue for music lovers with great acoustics and an audience that is all about the performance instead of bonehead conversations during the show. So glad I had the opportunity to see RT once again and look forward to the next one!
Moving, engaging, masterful performance. Two musicians generate so much power and passion that it fills the venue with warmth. Whether you’re a casual listener or a lifelong fan of Vanessa (guess which I am, haha), you’ll be drawn into this collection of some of her most compelling work. Don’t miss it!
Shoutout to a really great venue I had never been to before, but will certainly return to!
Overall the concert was good. Our one complaint was they needed a much better mixer on the sound board. For about half the concert AJ's voice was washed out by poor mixing. On the songs we knew it didn't matter, but on songs we had not previously heard we could not make out the lyrics.
Every show is different. Even if they play the same songs, they aren't simple repeats. Great energy, wonderful music, extremely talented group who obviously love what they are doing. Always an absolute treat.
Spectacular show, as we have all come to expect from Tab and his most excellent band. He had the sold out crowd rocking and rolling for his entire set. This was a show rescheduled after COVID screwed up the works for us all, and it was a true pleasure to finally get to see and hear Tab!
The band was in fine form. Sound mix seemed kind of muddy and at times the vocals were overwhelmed by the instruments. I had no idea what a fantastic guitarist Gary Louris is. Great show overall.
