Thelma is wonderful artist and songwriter
Best show ever. Full stop.
I was in Jazz and Bass Heaven! Seeing him live was a dream come true. The room acoustic was superb. Bit of issue with the Sire but otherwise a best experience at this venue.
It was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever been to!
Great show. I love the way you can strip back the music to just a piano and only two singers, who also advised, how come the songs were written. Thoroughly enjoyed the venue and the banter on the stage, just a shame it was not longer.
What a beautiful, yet bittersweet night. The first set was spellbinding. Between the incredible visuals and the improvisation of CB’s latest record, “End of the Day” and the second completely solo set with just Courtney, her voice and her Kurt Cobain signature edition Fender Jaguar really showed us who were lucky enough to bear witness to these special handful of shows the true craftswomanship Courtney conjures up whenever she writes those songs that have become so engrained in us over the past decade or so.
I have been lucky enough to watch her grow from the “girl guitarist” in The Immigrant Union to the artist she’s become that’s beloved all around the world.
As she left the stage for the last time, one couldn’t help but get a tightness in the throat because those in the know, knew that this was her last true home based show. Milk! Records has closed. And Courtney has now moved to the USA(nus) - fuck knows why? I hope she realises that the grass is most definitely not greener - especially over there.
The sadness grew heavier in the air as the last song was coming to its finale not only for us lovers of Courtney, but with Courtney herself. She went from doing truncated versions of her work to dragging them out towards the close of the set with Courtney not only telling us how much she loved us all, as much as she could, but also prolonging the songs whilst taking in her final home audience and staring at the ceiling as she strummed out the final chords of “Oh The Night” before finishing, giving us all a wave and disappearing into the black. Oh the night indeed. 🖤💔💙
Great band, great venue. So good to see the entire room on their feet dancing all night.
Unbelievably great! What a privilege to experience Cécile McLorin Salvant.
great show and great venue
Loved the venue and loved the band.
He is incredible music person.. it was so amazing time
Loved the Music and the interaction between him and the amazing audience.
Colin Hay was absolutely brilliant but the number of people getting up and going out to get drinks, repeatedly was outrageous! Disruptive and rude! Drinks should not be available during a show. Disrupted the beautiful flow of his music not to mention dodging people’s bodies just to see. If people are genuinely thirsty water was available. Ffs people! Are you there to see a legend or just drink??? If you need to go to the loo that’s fine but honestly….
Great venue and great concert.
Aldous Harding is unique in her stage presence and her voice is exquisite. She has a way of drawing the audience in, without much verbal communication. Those fortunate enough to see her were taken on a beautiful journey with her show.
As far as the venue is concerned, there was plenty of good food around close by. Most dinner venues required booking, but some also were walk in. We ate at The George, which was a busy but quick service pub around the corner.
Would I see Aldous Harding again -yes
Would I go to the City Recital Hall again - yes
Would I eat at The George again - yes
A very unusual event and so interesting. Mick Harvey (who penned the original score) and Springtime reworking the music to Chopper as the movie plays. With artists of this calibre, it was bound to be a sublime experience. Seeing the film again on a big screen with the great Eric Bana playing Chopper was intense. Add to that, the new score with the muso's performing live was a fascinating and unique experience. Wish it was recorded being my only complaint.
Awesome with the back drop of Sydney harbour and the vivid festival made it even more special!
First gig I’ve gotten out to in a while, CMA sublime, great setlist and perfect venue for her
Unreal show with heaps of feels and crazy fun
