Great venue. Not been before (I am visiting from the UK).
First time seeing Bob Mould live. Been following him from Husker Du days. He and his band were amazing. Relentless, powerful in your face energy and intellect.
Bob lived up to expectations and exceeded them. His passion and talent are unsurpassed.
As always, Jack White didn’t disappoint. He’s become must see. Such a talented guitarist. I was lucky enough to catch his pop up show at First Avenue and knew I had to see him and his talented band once again at the Palace Theatre, one of the best venues in the Twin Cities. Nothing will top the First Ave show, but this was close.
Venue is a little awkward … upstairs is seated, downstairs general admission was overly packed … and if you went to the bar you had to exit the main area and then stand in line to get back in.
The bands were great though!
Phenomenal musicianship and a killer performance all around! A huge range of emotions too, obviously a ton of the songs are super fun to dance to, but I wasn't realize how much 'David' was going to wreck me in the best possible way. When Sammy Rae said that seeing her dad being vulnerable enough to cry two times in her life "changed the way I love him" I was done for! Haha! I'm already on the lookout for the next show.
The Femmes were on point last night. Packed club and one of the best albums of all time. Hallowed Ground! It was the tour I saw them on for the first time 40 years ago. And they were just as impressive.
The venue was great amd their staff was amazing. I had VIP tickets and the staff had everything well organized to make sure we knew what was going on and what to expect. The meet and greet with Teddy was awesome; it set the tone for what would be an incredible night! Teddy put on an absolutely incredible performance!! His talent is unmatched by any performer! I will definitely be seeing him in concert again!
Wondedul show. Great music, harmonies, chats with the audience and on stage fun antics. Our seats were in the 3rd balcony so a little hard to see. Big screens would have helped, but we were ok.
The band was very good, but honestly too loud and often overpowered the singing. The best songs were without the band entirely. So beautiful to listen to and really showed off their talent and why I like them so much.
Lighting also effective but when bright lights were aimed at the audience, I had to close my eyes- too much.
Thanks
she was so amazing! the only downside was it was so cold and we waited outside for hours but once we got inside it was plenty worth it. after the show we met the opener isabel and she was so sweet! definitely an experience i want to relive
Elle king is such a great performer just a bummer that she was recovering from being sick so she had to choose songs that no one knew instead of playing the songs of her recently released album. Overall good just knew it could have been mind blowing!
The band was AMAZING. The sound great. The staff were friendly - especially the bartenders. Too many tickets were sold for GA so unless you were 6’7” tall, good luck seeing much. We were sandwiched and couldn’t really even move.
It didn't feel as good as the show they did this past March in California that I saw. It just wasn't the usual feeling I get when listening to them. The crowd was also unsatisfactory, wasn't really the kind of group I would want to go hang out with for the evening again. Great sound as always, though, by the band.
The Femmes were excellent. Sounded exactly like they did 35 years ago. I loved the energy they brought to the stage. The venue was clever with the tiered flooring, and us shorter people certainly appreciated it. I give 4/5 because there were three incredibly drunk guys near where I was standing and they repeatedly spilt beer down my back as well as created a puddle so I couldn’t dance anymore without slipping. The event staff/security were notified about these dudes, but by the time they were escorted out, it was the last song and I missed it do to trying to not get elbowed in the face. Again, the Femmes were incredible and I was so excited to see Brian play live.
So great to see live music again and the Lips did not disappoint. Hell of a show! The did lots of older material (Love Yer Brain!?!!) and the whole show was a day glow dream come true. Don't hesitate, go immediately to the Flaming Lips.
This was their first show of the Brighten tour and the band was tight. I was surprised and delighted that they played songs off Boggy Depot, Degradation Trip and some Alice treasures. Jerry would occasionally let out a kind of funny grunt/sigh that revealed how happy he was to return to the stage and perform his music for us after a pandemic induced break from live shows. I'd recently gone through some difficult stuff, and going to see this show really lifted my spirits. The Palace allowed minors in the balcony section, which I thought was cool. Jerry has fans from a wide range of ages and I love to see kids get to experience live RAWK performances while having a safe environment to do so.
One of the best concerts I’ve been to - bar none. Great set list with lots of surprises. Jerry sounds great. His playing is top shelf as always & his band is super tight. If you’re a fan of AIC, Jerry, or just great hard rock music - don’t miss it.
The venue is beautiful but the sound is not....
It’s not Shakey’s fault in the least either.
He puts on a great show but the bigger the venue, the less intimate it is.
He was great at first ave but sound has been perfected there.
It’s Shakey Effin Graves of course it was an awesome concert, best performer out there. This was my third show of his this year, Missoula, Madison and now St. Paul. 4 shows and counting total, must say I’ll go to many more.
Interesting opener but quirky not much stage presence - trapped in the 70s - sat in the loge - thought the vocals were muddy - did not realize leon sings mostly - really awesome tight band - not sure I would revisit - venue was packed but the audience could not dance! Reasonable venue for a nice evening but a tad antiseptic for rock - will call was slow to process requests during a steady rain - security thorough and professional - I would go back but I do prefer the varsity or State or Orpheum
