What a brilliant night this was.
The perfect small venue for Nathan to returnas a solo artist. It's been 8 years and
Nathan expressed his nervousness at the
start but he had no need. It was a magical comeback!
The "up close and personal" sound check was great to be part of with his voice hitting those great notes and heights. The question and answer session was fun and allowed Nathan to relax amongst his fans.
His song choice was perfect, emotional and we all shared in a wonderful
atmosphere and celebration that Nathan
was back.
From me (probably the oldest guest there) and Alice, my daughter and fan for ever since she was little - thank you X
Chloe is a very talented musician with a beautiful voice and she put on a great performance. The audience’s reaction clearly demonstrated how much she impressed them as she was the support act and many were hearing her for the first time although I doubt it’ll be the last
We don't often see the Barr Brothers on these shores - the last time I saw them was in 2018 at the Union Chapel, as a full band, kicking up a rumpus with their Queens Of The Breakers album.
This time out, at Omeara, its just Andrew on drums and Brad on guitar (apologies, I didn't catch the name of the lady adding colour with her backing vocals ).
The gig started with a hushed acapella gathering around a single mic' and was followed by an extraordinary sou ding piece where Andrew wrapped a guitar string around one on Brad's six string and created a bowing effect; a little like that of an E-bow...if any of you remember one of those!
Andrew's drumming was superb, going from precise but high sounding, to extreme daftness and subtlety, to underpin Bsad's excellent vocals.
Brad's voice, to my ears, sounds like a mix of Paul Simon reediness and Daniel Lanois' smoky tones, and I've suggested in the past that I'd love to hear Dan and the boys cook something up together - being fellow Canadians?
Anyway, we got some old tunes and some new, all rendered in such a way as to keep the audience in the small venue in rapt attention; there weren't even many chatterers!!!
The sound was absolutely immaculate, and I gave a nod to the sound guys as I left, they truly added to the music on the night.
If you read Wiki, or any other describer of the band's sound, it might say "folk", but that's lazy nonsense if truth be told, as they also play some filthy rock stuff too, often built around some heavily effected electric 12-string...a great sound.
There's a new album coming, which I can't wait to hear, and I hope it's not another seven years before I see them play again.
Support was from Memorial, who were my favourite discovery of 2024, and a chatwith them revealed they're writing new stuff, and gigging on occasion, so check them out!
Omeara is a great venue, good sound as I said, a nice little bar (£7 for a tin of Beavertown), and really friendly staff.
Good to return to O'Meara, as its a great venue. Callum Beattie was really dynamic. I love the music and this was the first time I have seen him live. He's a very dynamic performer, and I really don't know why he's not better known down here. If you get a chance, go and see him.
We have had such a great evening with Sam Palladio at OMEARA! Sam's show was -in one word- fantastic. He and the band gave a very vibrant performance. Also special guest Jamie Lawson impressed us.
OMEARA is a great venue. The underground atmosphere, the bar and the staff were all wonderful. We are from the Netherlands and were pleasantly surprised by the eazyness of the staff and audience at the gig. We'd love to come back some time and will highly recommend both Sam and Jamie as the venue as well.
Brilliant, intimate venue for a wonderful preview of Katy’s fab new album. Wondering out the back entrance of Omeara after the show, we found Katy herself signing albums and chatting. Perfect end to an amazing evening.
It was such a privilege to get to see Alec live, to meet him and just to hear all his songs. All my favourites came up which I’m so grateful for. I waited to see him for the longest time, and if he comes back to London I’ll be the first to book those tickets again. His music has had the biggest positive impact on my life, and he was so lovely even though I was crying a ridiculous amount and anxious. If he sees this, I’m really sorry if it was overwhelming. Thank you so much for signing my poster (Sofia with an f!) :) and just giving me your time. It means the world to me to have even met you. You’re so incredible, and thank you for introducing everyone to Phil ! I really hope to see you again soon, and I hope the rest of your tour goes well
Incredible artist. So lovely and soft spoken and I’ve always adored their music, I wish everyone knew all the songs and sang as much as I did. But I’m glad Alec and Phil thought we were a sweet and respectful crowd. I cried way too much. I waited to see them for so long and I hope they come back to London again. I’m grateful Alec also spoke to me a little before and during poster signing. The experience meant the world to me, as does their music.
Really great to see David live, though he did apologise for having something of a bad throat. Great music though with Hi FI Sean, and the support act, Eden Faith, showed lots of promise . I was impressed by the venue, but the concert was spoiled a bit by some people who would not stop talking the whole way through, despite being asked to stop. Following a complaint, they were asked to leave the main venue area and stand outside the venue entrance.
An amazing show, one of the best I've ever been to! JR is an incredible artist, vocals sounded same as recordings, his obvious talent and love of the music made him a joy to see. A very soulful show, I hope to see him again! He was also very sweet and took the time to speak to fans which you don't always get so was very grateful! The venue was awesome, I loved the vibes. Highly recommend both artist and venue
Great exclusive and private performance. Amanda vocals didn’t need more than her usual string set and a guitarist companion to shine. Great to see her touring in UK and Europe. The venue was well organise and with great acoustics. Definitely a hidden gem in London!
Amazing venue - our first time there, what a hidden gem and as for Bob; they didn’t disappoint. 4th time we’ve seen them and just love their passion and raw energy connecting with the crowd. Bought along 4 friends who are all now Bob converts! Love love love!
Absolutely brilliant. Great music and stage presence, interacted well with the audience and the songs were beautiful. Venue was small so had a great view and sound was great too. Joe even came to greet audience members after the show and signed merch! Possibly one of the best gigs I’ve been to!
Best show of 2022! The guys not only put on a brilliant show, but getting to hear the stories behind the album just elevated it to another level. Can’t beat seeing a band doing what they love and enjoying it as much as their audience
The event was brilliant hopscotch arranged by Jack Saunders, Hot Milk as always gave London a great performance and got the crowd singing along, lots of movement and crowd surfing, Omeara is only 320 capacity so made the gig more intimate.
A few days after the show I still have Katie's songs swirling around my head. She gave us a powerful and intimate acoustic performance with just her voice, a guitar and her friend Jess on the keyboard. A few people were even in tears during some songs. I was so impressed and enthralled by Katie's singing despite the unnecessary smoke machine and her claims that her voice wasn't in great shape.
I hope she comes back for a full band show sometime very soon!
I had a probably the best time I've had at a gig in such a long time and one I will not forget. Mimi is very talented with so many great songs. This was one not to miss
What a privilege it was to be part of this event 💗
From the outset Phil commanded the enraptured audience to sing along with him, and sing we did - from the first note of Habits to the last note of Lost for Words and it was glorious!
Ever humble he seemed to find it difficult to quite believe not only that we'd all turned out to see him, but that we also knew all the words to his songs.
A true artist with integrity and humility Plested really is a pleasure to see live.
I loved this show. Great venue and a very friendly greeting from the man behind the bar. The venue was full, as a sold out show, but was not so rammed that it was uncomfortable. We managed to get a good spot near the stage. The support band Loathe were loud but the sound was good. I did not enjoy them that much overall, because I don’t like metal that much and get bored after a few songs. I did not have that problem with Poppy who I have been moderately obsessed with since coming across her on YouTube a couple of years back. Poppy was typically adorable and played a short but wonderful set of mostly more recent songs, those with a more rock orientated sound. New songs ‘Concrete’ and ‘I Disagree’ sounded like instant fan favourites. I very much enjoyed ‘Time is Up’ and ‘Where is My Microphone?’ especially as Poppy was able to locate her mic in time for the end of the song (spoiler alert: it was in her hand the whole time). It would have been nice to hear older classics such as ‘Bleach Blonde Baby’, ‘Lowlife’ and ‘Moshi Moshi’, but this was very much a rock set in warm up for a Reading festival appearance and some forthcoming support slots with Bring Me the Horizon. At the end of the show we all cleared off and the very friendly staff pointed us in the direction of a cash point so that my friend ‘Leafy’ could purchase me a T-shirt from the merch stall. It had Poppy’s face on it. Luckily she has a very nice face. We had a wonderful time. Also, the ticket price was very low compared to other shows I’ve been to. Great show, pretty sure all the Poppyseeds went home very happy.
