Wonderful show in a beautiful venue.
Only suggestion- turn on the AC!
Great show. Great Venue. First time seeing them, didn’t disappoint. Enjoy the time off, last gig of the year.
River and the boys are great every show. They played 150 dates this year. I saw three of them and all three were great. Also, H.C. McEntire opened the show brilliantly.
Shana was & is superb! The band was so in tuned with her & the atmosphere was very very special. Very happy I was present
Really loved the show! They played a nice variety from several albums. My favorite album is 23 & they seemed to focus on that album more than their latest release. The sound wasn't the greatest - there was too much distortion. I blame the HR Ballroom for that. Hope I get to see them again!
Much more PURE Jerry than any other band portraying his music. They are bringing the music of Jerry Garcia to the bluegrass scene from a young man that grew up with Jerry Garcia and his Dad listening to how the music was meant to be played (bluegrass /Folk/acoustic & electric) JGB / Jerry & David Grisman. Sam Grisman and his band made the evening a magical and intimate night of Jerry Garcia and their own tunes untainted by how Dead & Co. have tainted the real JG music IMO . Sam and his band are who I recommend to all those who are loyal to Jerry Garcia’s acoustic, bluegrass and electric roots. In addition, The Haw River Ballroom added to the magic of the evening, an old mill tucked away outside of Chapel Hill Nc elevated on the River banks of the infamous Haw River in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Sam and the band stayed after their show and were all personally interacting with the fans as the ballroom emptied out into the star lit Haw River valley.
The Haw River Ballroom is always amazing. Evan Dando and The Lemonheads had been a favorite of mine since I was a teen and I was so excited to finally see him/then perform. It was a total letdown. Evan Dando was extremely intoxicated, maybe high? Who knows. He was mostly incoherent when he’d try to engage the audience between songs, thinking he was at a different venue, and asking about tequila while he drank red wine. I felt genuine concern for his safety during the show, and even more so for his health after.
Maybe for the first time in my life, after leaving a show, and re-listening to the music I had heard, i had an overwhelming sense of sadness. It was very unsettling to see a person in such an unwell state. Sending hope for health and happiness to Evan Dando, for music and art and beauty’s sake.
The venue was unique and fun. The concert was amazing! This was my favorite concert EVER.
The most amazing show I have ever been to. I was really excited about this show because they cancelled it back in February. Maria is an amazing performer and is so interactive with the crowd. She held my hand multiple times and I was able to ask her a question. She is so sweet. Her voice is so lovely live and so is the band, they were all incredible. If you are ever thinking about going The Maria’s show I would 100% recommend.
Madison is a phenom and gave a great performance. She is the queen of her generation with a songbird voice, amazing and original guitar work and extremely cleaver songwriting.
Great venue much better sound than at the place down the road. Minus one star because the vocals needed to be louder.
Willi Carlisle has a unique way of drawing people into his show through story and song. He plays many unique instruments, takes old tragic tunes and spins them into something new, fresh and golden. He is spectacular. It's only a matter of time before the whole world will be enthralled with his talent.
This was our first time in Saxapahaw. The ballroom was a fun space. Chatham Rabbits were great as always. I recommend bringing a seat cushion because the metal folding chairs are a bit hard on the tail bones.
Awesome! Victor was his usual fantastic, wo Derulo self. Steve amazed us with 6 string fretless magic. And the drummer, I think name Jeff Sykes, was dazzling. A power trio.
Great show by bass masters Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey and an unexpected wonderful surprise, on drums, Jeff Sipe..
Excellent .. been waiting years to see him and finally got a chance .. as good as I expected with the combo of my favorite tunes and good stories .. Otis Gibbs was an excellent opener ... Haw Ballroom has great sound and vibe
Great show and venue. Todd was in good form, did a lot of old songs, which I appreciated.
This was my first Donna the Buffalo show and I loved every minute. There's no place like the right time!
Just treasure of a band. The harmonies were perfect, the new songs rock harder live and they dug out some old songs like “letter to an occupant “
Even with one of the band members under the weather (but still gutted out the performance) this was a fantastic show.
