The Jazz and soul left my heart so full! Love Terrace Martin and the bad was on fire!! Kenyon was so amazing live I’m so grateful I got to experience this night. So worth the 2hr drive from Philly and then back.
This was the first time I saw Esperanza in concert and boy am I glad I did! She conveyed such passion, joy and love in her performance that you can feel that the music comes from the deepest part of her. The smaller size venue made it even more intimate. I look forward to seeing her again!
The show was incredible and felt like a dream come true! ‘I do’ is one of my favorite songs and I feel so lucky to hear it live after Aloe said he doesn’t normally have it in the lineup.
Aloe and band, thank you for an amazing show. Your music helped me through my first year moving to NYC, when I moved, I knew no one and felt alone. Your songs kept me motivated and keep working hard to get to my goals. I’m proud to say I’m still here after 10 years and grateful for your music!
The show was good until Veronica Swift came on for the last 2 numbers, and then it was GREAT! She is really an amazing vocalist and surprise trumpet player in her own right, and her time in the spotlight was worth the entire price of admission!
Blue Note… bring Veronica Swift back as the headliner; she’s a star and it would be great to see her with her own shows in New York City.
This was AMAZING!!! Bought tickets as a birthday present for my hubby. He introduced me to WSO. I was surprised when I heard their arrangements of alternative songs. I loved their version of Nothing Compares 2 U that they played, an upbeat version different from the way Sinead O’Connor and Prince have sung the song. Got to hear their new arrangement of the TS song I Knew You Were Trouble! I am looking forward to seeing WSO live again!
Tge 5 stars are for Eric Gales - an 11 out of 10, but he was a guest of the headliner, MonoNeon who is an exceptional bassist, he doesn't like to perform and it shows. Could have used A LOT more Eric.
I could have done without the history lesson about bebop. There were 2 shows, so it's already a foregone conclusion that the first show would be short; there was no encore which only made the anecdotes and talking all the more annoying. I'm a fan, but next time, I would appreciate more playing and much less filler.
Good venue. Better than expected. Seating is TIGHT. Food is okay. A little pricey for the quality. Sound was great. Nice employees.
Definitely a good time. Will go again.
Low Cut Connie was amazing. We’ll be seeing them again ASAP.
Neighborhood is the same. Cops standing around scratching their ass while whatever happens.
Next Covid round will fuck this place up though so go now.
Seeing the great David Sanborn perform at the legendary BLUE NOTE JAZZ CLUB on August 9th was one of the best experiences of my summer.
David and his sax were in top form, as he played every note from his heart and soul, like no one else can.
His band is made up of excellent musicians , each playing their instruments (piano, bass, trumpet and drums) impeccably.
I have previously attended 3 jazz shows at the Blue Note, prior to seeing David Sanborn.
Blue Note provides an excellent venue for jazz performers and their captive audience.
The food and drinks are fantastic, and the wait staff have always been very accommodating.
I do hope David will return to the Blue Note in the not too distant future.
His immense talent has made him a legend, in the truest sense of the word.
I couldn’t attend; but l am aware that Blue Note was packed and the attendees were mesmerized and content. Some described her as one-of-a-kind “jewel”, and that they will bring friends and family members to Melanie’s next performance whenever it will take place in Manhattan. This is marvelous news for Melanie and her luscious band. MJB (030823)
As always I look forward to seeing Chris Botti at the Blue Note- such an intimate setting- I feel like it’s a private concert just for me. His love for music and introducing new and spectacular talent is another reason I love to see him. If you have an opportunity to see him - GO!! You won’t be disappointed.
I absolutely adore this group !!! I purchased tickets as soon as I got a notification that they would be in town . Took my sister who had never been too a live show and now she is hooked. Awesome . Awesome. Awesome !!!! And Norah Jones as an added bonus ??!! !
The music was good. Lalah Hathaway is a talent and a remarkable singer. The set was short (about 1 hour) and enjoyable but it felt more like a Lalah Hathaway show.
My biggest issue with the event is the venue because Blue Note just pack in the audience like sardines. The entire experience was just uncomfortable and unpleasant. They expect you to order food but the tables are barely big enough to hold a drink.
Overall a bit disappointing.
Nellie at the Blue Note—what a treat. Enchanting as always, but at her best in this intimate setting. In voice, her fierce licks on the shiny, shiny grand, the precious ukulele and even a bit of harmonica…not to mention her Bob Dylan impersonation—just spot spot-on with new and old material as well as classic covers. And her bassist and drummer, perfect complement. If only she had included Judy’s “What’ll I Do” in the set, I’d have been destroyed. But even yet, such a great show. See her any time you can.
Low Cut Connie only has one speed - a high velocity gear nobody else can match. How they do two shows in one night is beyond me. So happy to be there for both of them. The Blue Note is a special venue. The only downside was having to stay in a seat. Ya gotta dance with this band.
And the new stuff...wowza. 🔥❤🔥
Braxton is so such a dope musician. It was a pleasure to see this artistry in person. I flew in from Atlanta only to see his performance and it was worth it. If he hits your city most defiantly go.
Robert makes beautiful music and I liked adding to dj to add an extra layer to the songs. While I don’t think there was anything transcendent during the show it was generally quite good. My complaint would be the preshow dj added nothing, a jazz club is the wrong environment for a solo dj, and I was at the bar which in blue note turns out to be a horrible place to watch a jazz show, it’s loud, crowded, with terrible sight lines. Next time will get a table.
Matthew was outstanding. His musicianship is superb! His organ reminded me of Jimmy Smith. Matthew is also an excellent composer! They played several styles. The band was funky and tight! I strongly recommend that you experience the artistry of Matthew Whitaker!
Beautiful & mesmerizing experience. I am so happy that I had a chance to witness such a profound musician in my lifetime. Listened to you all the time as a young child while my dad blasted CD 101.9 smooth jazz on his car radio ♥️
