An amazing gig . Two great bands , Smoke Fairies followed by the Veils . An evening that was filled with powerful , inspiring , magical , beauty .
A lovely looking venue , though bloody cold and they don't allow alcohol in the Chapel . So to have been such a wonderful gig means the two bands have to be off the scale incredibly great .
Their music isn't particularly distinctive and the acoustic set made it even more so. Great voice and fantastic instrumentalists but every song just sounded far too alike. Nice guys, good vibe and some funny banter but didn't move me musically and I found the whole thing pretty boring, sorry.
As per usual Lissie was fantastic. She was her normal energetic self. Her voice was powerful and her songs are always great. Performing without her band this time.
It was my first time at the Union Chapel. What a great venue ! The Chapel itself is beautiful. The staff were very efficient and friendly.
A great night.
It was my first time seeing Lissie live, I've been a fan for a couple of years thanks to recommended artists on a certain music app. I absolutely love Lissie's voice - the sounds she produces are almost unearthly! It was thoroughly mesmerising seeing her perform in such a beautiful venue (apart from the hard pews!). Highlights for me were Night Moves and Blood and Muscle. Lissie's voice transports me to another plain!
I first saw the Blackbyrds in 1970’s and enjoyed their music since.
Thoroughly enjoyed their most recent performance at the Union Chapel, & it was wonderful to be taken back down memory lane. The musicians were excellent & vocals were on point. Would gladly see them again.
Venue lends itself perfectly with the concert of spiritual music. The staff very helpful and friendly and understanding of our extra needs. Snatam Kaur is so humble yet so full of love and respect and devotion and she and her fellow musicians played and sang so beautifully. It’s as if the one she always talks about was perfectly singing through her.
The opening act had not been announced, so we were quite surprised, considering we had travelled 2000 km to get to the concert. Rosie Frater-Taylor was an inexplicable choice for this role, as her music is more of a twisted rock sound, nothing to do with jazz. So she was a disappointment for us. Kurt's trio was a great experience, a first class jazz concert. The very stupid organisation, from the long queues to the lack of information for the audience, was really not the band's fault. 5/5 the concert, 2/5 for the organisation!
Amazing gig - up there with my all time faves (I'm an old bugger that has been going to gigs for around 40 years now!)
Had a multitude of emotions felt at various gigs over the years but this is the first that provoked tears from the very first song.
Meeting and chatting with Chris and Joel down the side of the chapel prior to the gig was sweet and a little disorientating - lovely guys and so many things I should have said but didn't so will put some of it here!
Rob is the reason people pay attention to the band and his voice is so very special. Musically Frederik has a beauty to the tunes and rythyms of his playing that keeps the band on track but...
Chris - not sure I have ever heard anyone get so much out of a drumkit, boy do they take a pounding - drums are meant to be the beat for the music - you take them to another level and add more emotion to the music than should be possible!
Chris - just wow - so gentle, so subtle, but the more I listen to your band the more I realise how sublime your playing is and it's not all about about Rob's voice - quite a new convert to The Slow Show but you are rapidly becoming one of my favoutite guitarists.
Maybe this will be read, maybe not - but if you have not heard The Slow Show live - just go - there is loads of stuff on youtube but being there is 1000 times better.
And if you read this Rob - I know you deserve a break after the tour but I really can't wait to see you all live again as soon as possible so please don't have too long a break!
And finally, and above all else - thank you all so much, please keep making music that makes me feel - you are all individually amazing but what you produce collectively is unsurpassed.

What a fantastic evening! Union Chapel is a stunning venue, which I've been to many times, and perfect for this Emeli Sande performance. Emeli was flawless in her acoustic set (just a friend on guitar and Emeli on piano and vocals), singing songs from her new album. In between, she talked about writing and recording the record, and some of the meanings behind the songs. Afterwards, an encore of 3 older songs followed by a signing, which was the perfect end to a wonderful evening. WOW!!!
Shawn Colvin was playing solo, just the woman and her guitar and towards the end a piano. She shared anecdotes from her long career, which were enjoyable to hear, and her singing and playing were fantastic. amazing singer-songwriter. Would love to see her again.
Union Chapel was a beautiful venue with great acoustics, but tight and uncomfortable seating for a tall man like me.
Having been a Moody Blues fan since 1986, I have always loved their work past and present. So coming forward to 2022 and able to see Justin Hayward in London last September was, for me, absolutely fantastic. The venue itself was awe inspiring and had amazing acoustics. I attended the concert with my partner and my brother, who also enjoyed it immensely. The whole “band” that supported Justin Hayward was fantastic, and in particular Mike Dawes with his unique guitar playing. It was such a great evening, one I will never forget. It would be amazing if Justin could return to London, especially to the Union Chapel.
Excellent as always! Beautifully sung and Justin’s stories about the songs are also note worthy! I saw him at The Union Chapel before and it was also great then! I cherish this artist’s determination to keep going and his exquisite back catalogue of sumptuous melodies and emotive, thought provoking lyrics! Till the next time Justin Hayward, long May you sail!
A great concert with Tamara and her band creating superb renditions of her recent songs. Her guests Sam Omidon and Cassandra Jenkins added lovely touches. She did say that they had struggled a bit with the acoustics of the Union Chapel when they did a sound check. As a drummer myself, I felt their drummer could have muted his snare sound due to the echo in the venue, by using an O ring. But overall they have progressed a long way since I saw them in Brighton in 2018.
Incredible!! One of the most amazing singers I've ever seen live, her voice is something else and she knows how to use it! Plus the band were really tight. The venue was perfect for her. I loved the different versions of the songs from the album. Very special night 🤩😍
A wonderful show in a stunning venue. I hope that these three talented and funny ladies follow in the footsteps of KISS, Scorpions, Motley Crue and Judas Priest by deciding not to call it a day after all. It's sad to see them go but they certainly went out with a bang!
Went specifically to see Josh Rouse who was great as usual, this time playing electric guitar. Most of the capacity audience seemed to be there for him. Having never heard Grant Lee Phillips I was impressed with him although his songs aren’t as personal to me as Josh’s. In any event its a great pairing of two songwriters who clearly respect and admire each other.
Tried putting 5 stars, even that wouldn’t do this gig justice 👌🏼 Absolutely transfixed from start to finish.. LG singing in a church is a sentence I never thought I’d be writing, but this has to be up there with the best gigs I’ve ever attended ✊🏼
Great atmospheric venue, fantastic a acoustics, loved the hot chocolate, pews gave more room than plastic chairs and were more comfortable
Jeff east great warm up act and we are all following* him now..
HOME FREE are absolutely incredible! Woman next to us came from Minnesota and was listening to them! Absolutely 5 star! Already planning next trip to USA or here. Need a secret HF stash to make sure I get tickets early on Patreon. Just as well I did this time!

BEST! LIVE BAND! EVER! Seriously, a concert with such great musicianship, entertainment, high energy where the band gets the sissies so engaged in the music is worth all the starts and praise there is. If you ever get the chance too see these guys live, take it!
