Absolutely rocked the El Rey. LOUD and tight from the first three chords of Wicked Garden to the final encore of Sex Type Thing. I was in the fifth row, on my feet, and singing my lungs out. I couldn't even talk the next day from singing "Trippin' On A Hole" at the absolute peak of my range. So glad Jeff is singing and making the music "his." You all looked so happy up there, and the sound was phenomenal - and LOUD!

Wow! Once in a generation (or longer) vocal and songwriting talent, Angelina Jordan truly satisfied her fans with her first in three years Christmas concert before an adoring crowd at the intimate El Rey Theatre. 95 minutes of singing and audience interaction with no intermission. She sang holiday classics, some of her favorite covers, and her original songs (both released and unreleased gems). A lot of sweating eyes gazed as ears, hearts and souls appreciated this rare opportunity to see and hear Angelina live, which far surpasses her incredible studio recordings.

Falling somewhere between a solo guitar pull and a piano concert recital, Iris Dement played songs from her latest album, mixed with tracks from her catalog. She sings so beautifully, in an Appalachian, high lonesome sound. She was accompanied by a bassist, Liz Draper (?) and guitarist/mandolin player Mary Burnett (?) I hope I got the names right. The peaks and valleys of the set consisted of the song selection, most songs from her 2023 release. Her songs are emotive vehicles, laced with pin-point insight into the human condition. Nothing rocks, but all songs roll on with the inevitability of a wide river one might wish to cross someday. She is a treasure. Come back to Los Angeles soon.
