Had a great time at the concert. I enjoy small venues like this much more.Because the concert seems a lot more personal. All the acts were great and put on my wonderful show. Staff around were courteous and nice. I live out of town and the show made it worth the drive. Will gladly do it again. Thanks for checking on how everything went.
A true hip hop show. Common and Pete Rock hit all their classics with their new album. Freestyles, remixes, Nas and JDilla stories has the club jumping almost as much as Common. His energy is next level, barely stopped moving the whole show, he must know those wutang breathing techniques. I'm beating myself up for not having seen him before now.
Seeing Chappell Roan in such an intimate setting after her massive rise in fame the last months was INCREDIBLE. Not only was she and her opening drag queens absolutely amazing, but the whole process entering the venue was so smooth and the security team was so fantastic. We were front middle barricade and they were so on top of getting people water when needed, attentive to any emergencies, and made it very clear that if we were being crushed, they would pull us out if signalled. The entire experience was nothing but positive for my group and I would come back to this venue in a heartbeat
The band was amazing as expected, and their performance was tight. But...
Whoever was in charge of their sound did a horrible job. As a Metric fan, I expected to be rocked by some powerful bass, and to be bathed in a full soundscape, but that bass was overpowering every other aspect of the instruments and vocals, and even the speakers themselves. They sounded as if they were blown. I am not the only one in the audience with this opinion. Several of us discussed this when they were briefly mitigating their technical issue.
I got to meet James, Josh, and Joules after the show, and that was terrific. They were so fun to chat with. I wanted to tell them about the sound issue, but hesitated because I didn't want that one moment to be tainted by possibly insulting or annoying them. All in all, I am still grateful to have finally seen them live after being a fan for 15 years.
This was one of only four US tour dates on 311's 2024 tour and I definitely did not want to miss it, let alone in an amazing (non-ampitheatre) venue like The Norva. While I appreciate their material post-2010, 311 treated us to almost 85% of songs pre-2010. The band still has it and the crowd of fans this night were there for it. Did not disappoint; 10/10.
Great venue & great show! Audience was the most engaged audience I've ever been a part of. Gordon missed a lyric here & there but didn't miss a beat & neither did the audience. Was hoping for "Country Death Song" as a bonus but instead we got "Black Girls". Hope they circle back through the midwest for some additional final shows to end the anniversary tour. Thank you for the memories & the art, Violent Femmes!
Such an amazing show!! Saw them at The Norva in 2010 with me middle son. It has sent us on to become concert fanatics. My youngest added on a bit after that. We love SwitchFoot and were so excited they were doing the anniversary tour here! The band was great and came in to be with us fans a few times. Including climbing up to the top deck!!
Teddy put his heart and soul into his performance, the band was incredible. It was crazy how he was able to sign autographs and sing all at the same time... with all the bras being thrown at him I thought I was at a Drake concert. 10 out of 10, will catch a Teddy Swim show again. Matt Hansen opened for Teddy and let me just say he was impressive, can't wait to see this guy put out some hits.
Jay Bird was absolutely amazing this evening! I cried during Where I’ve Been! His soul touches all of us when he sings. I’ve waited three years to see them, had tickets to multiple shows that never worked out. The juice was so worth the squeeze! And to whomever the hot guy on the rail was that was a storm trooper for his buddies wedding…hope to see you at another show ;)
Had yet to give the interrupters a listen before tonight. Not the biggest ska fan and was there for Frank Turner. They were so much fun with an infectious stage presence and fan base I found myself moving around and wanting more. Big SHOUT out to my friend Kristi up from NC for gifting me her extra ticket. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Saw a shirt that said girls invented punk rock….
First time for me to see Frank Turner who I’m a new but huge fan. found him via Tim Barry/Avail. So good. Friend Kristi from NC gave me a ticket. Impressed how the NORVA has evolved into allowing for circle pits. I was informed that there is a way to monitor them to be safe according to someone who manages music events at other local venues. This is her photo.
Set It Off never fails to perform a fantastic show!
They know how to engage with their crowd, and have proven yet again how much they look out for fans. Last night, a fan was having a hard time, and Cody Carson stopped the show and helped the fan exit safely. This band truly cares for their fans, and I can not wait for them to come back!
The concert was spectacular and incredible! The open act Tweet was amazing , such a beautiful voice , and high energy as she sent our positive vibes! Got a chance to meet with her after the show as well! She was very down to earth and genuinely friendly. Ella Mai was outstanding and her performance was Fire!!!! So glad I had an opportunity to meet her and take a picture with her! She sung so beautifully as always! I had an awesome time! The audience was positive and great vibes!
Opening night of the new tour in Norfolk, INCREDIBLE!! Amazing energy from both the band…and the crowd! Amigo the Devil was entertaining as hell and got the place hyped for Clutch. JP’s on a riser which is perfect cause that dude is still crushing it! Neil continues to be the the front man we all need….and he never ceases to amaze. Dan The Man Maines is masterful with the bass as always and Tim has a new vigor that I have seen in years!! Don’t miss them when they come near!!
Absolutely outstanding. Every band gave it their all. Stick to Your Guns earned a lot of new fans that night. Me included. Motionless has Beartooth never disappoint. They always bring the energy and the fans give it right the fuck back. I see them every time they are in state. Love them. Can’t wait to do this again. Security were fucking assholes though. If they come again do it at The National! The NorVa security were absolute jerks.
Amazing as always but I would like to have heard more of the Creatures Album (every time I see them they Encore Immaculate Misconception=FAVE EVER, but not this time, oh well) OG MIW 4 Life! This band stays true to their roots over time and that is why they are my favorite EVER! Make me cry and lose my voice every single time. The emotional experience at MIW shows is transcendental for me. I have seen them 10+ times and every damn time I am crying uncontrollably screaming my lungs out, completely and utterly losing my shit in the best way!
Craziest concert I’ve ever been too. People were pushed up against me all around, some instances I thought I was gonna have to fight someone. But I was like right in front, and when Ferg got on up on the fence in front of us I was probably only 2-3 feet away. Closest I’ve ever been to an artist. Played basically all the songs I wanted to hear.
Falling in Reverse put on one hell of a show. They came back on stage when they didn't have to after the audience was cheering for one more song and played quite a bit. They honestly care for there fans and Ronnie still sang exceptionally for being sick! I brought my little brother to his first concert and we had a blast. We will be seeing them again when they come back to Virginia. I just hope that they choose a different venue for next year. I am even more of a fan after this event and this will be something me and my little brother never forget. Good memories. Thank you for such a great show.
The venue didn't know what they was doing, had no answers except ONE WORKER... Sold us side stage but only a handful was allowed to hide behind the speakers. One worker put his hands in my face, and another cussed me out for asking about the vip package. Falling in reverse and ice nine kills made it up by their performance. Both of them doing the most for their fans and giving the best show. I give falling in reverse 5 stars but give the venue only 3. My husband also left because of how some venue members treated him. So there goes $240 out the door.
I went to this show to see the opening band. BUT... The Magpie Salute is officially my favorite ‘new to me’ band of the year. Their music is just magical. It’s now mid-October and I’m still listening to their High Water 1 cd every time I’m in my car. Don’t pass up the chance to see them. It’s truly something special
