Great show is a major understatement. Kudos to Johnny (superb guitar work along with Mike Randle and Rusty Squeezebox) and these guys for decades of performing some of the greatest songs of "rock and roll" penned by Arthur Lee and Bryan Maclean. They sound great as ever! And Arthur and Bryan are still missed along with other Love musicians along the way.

I was trying to count how many times I have seen Tommy Castro and his band. It is somewhere north of 60 times. Tommy has never disappointed me. No matter what sort of arrangement his band is in. He delivers. Sunday night he played with a youthful enthusiasm that I have not seen from him for a while. Record release party; Closer To The Bone. A great blues album. Right there at the top of all his releases. The Painkillers promptly put out a one two punch. Randy on bass, Mike on the keys, and their new drummer was a thrill to watch. Jackson Castro joined Tommy for a rendition of Midnight Special that brought the crowd up and screaming for more. Never miss a chance to see Tommy Castro and the Painkillers. Thank you Sweetwater Music Hall. That was an unforgettable night.

We've been listening to this band for a few years, and to see them live was a dynamic experience. The studio songs that they performed had their own spin, and their sound is always evolving as the two brothers bring in other musicians. Sweetwater was a nice small venue where we could enjoy seeing the musicians play, although the dancing room was tight. I'd definitely see them again, or go back for another show.

About Sweetwater Music Hall

Sweetwater Music Hall is the legendary music venue established in 1972 in Mill Valley, CA. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit arts organization committed to advancing education, understanding and appreciation of music, culture and arts through the presentation of a vibrant and diverse range of live performances.
The original Sweetwater opened in 1972 in downtown Mill Valley, CA.
The once-in-a-lifetime show was a commonplace occurrence at the original Sweetwater. The roster of artists that have crowded onto the club’s little stage included Bob Weir, Aaron Neville, Big Mama Thornton, Carlos Santana, Clarence Clemons, Elvis Costello, Etta James, Gregg Allman, Jerry Garcia, John Hiatt, John Lee Hooker, Maria Muldaur, Odetta, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Van Morrison and many more musical luminaries. In the ’80s, the Times of London hailed the Sweetwater as one of the best nightclubs in America. In September 2007, sadly the original Sweetwater closed its doors. In 2012, the venue reopened as the Sweetwater Music Hall up the street on Corte Madera Ave. The tradition of the once-in-a- lifetime show continues!
