Vladivojna La Chia Biography
Vladivojna is a Czech composer, singer, text writer, producer and artist. She was born in Ostrava in 1983. She came to contact with music in her early childhood through drawings, in which she would depict her imaginary bands and composed fictional songs for them. She formed her first band with a friend of hers when she was nine.
At the age of sixteen she joined a girl „big pussy“ beat band Kočičí oči (Cat Eyes). The band played in concerts and in a studio it recorded EP Ruská zima (Russion Winter). You can listen to it on the Bandzone. In 2002 she co-founded the rock band Banana. The band released three critically acclaimed albums: Banana, Trip and Jungle. In 2006, Vladivojna and Banana were nominated for the Discovery of the year award on TV station Ocko. The band opened the concerts of Marilyn Manson, Richard Müller, Waltari and the Scorpions. The song La Rezistence (from the first album of the Banana) held Number 1 position on the renowned alternative hit parade of radio Krakow (in Poland), to which about 1 million people listen to daily.
Vladivojna La Chia has starred with Laco Deczi, who invited her to tour with him in Czechland and Slovakia.
Her first solo album, Tajemství Lotopu, released in 2009, became the top album of the month at the cult Berlin music store Dussman, and earned two alternative Tais Awards as the album and song of the year. The Indian guitarist, Amit Chatterjee, known for his co-operation with Joe Zawinul Syndicate, Sting and Santana, guest-starred on this album.
In 2011 she composed and recorded the music score for the movie „Nevinnost" („Innocence"), directed by the most successful Czech film director, Jan Hřebejk. She was nominated for the Czech Lion Award and the Czech Film Critics Award. A soundtrack of the same name was also released. At the end of 2011 she released album Bohémy with a fanciful book of her illustrations and original stories called Vladibajky, from which she reads at her solo recitals. In 2013 Vladivojna released her third solo album ŠRAF she recorded mostly at her own studio. The sax line was played by an excellent saxophone player Joe Cohen at San Francisco.
In 2013 she composed incidental music to three dramas for the Rokoko Theatre. This music has been recorded in the album Musica Scenica Vol. 1. It was released with numerous handpainted (watercolors) CD-jackets. In 2012 she released her fourth solo album called Tajemství (s)prostěradel. She composed and recorded the album by herself alone in a deserted farmhouse in Vysočina Region. For each of the CD she handpainted (watercolors) the jackets. In 2014 Vladivojna composed incidental music for a new series called Až po uši (directed by Jan Hřebejk) for the HBO TV Channel. It was released on CD. Since then she has been composing music for movies, theatre plays and audiobooks (i.e. Kafe a Cigárko by Marie Doležalová).
In 2015 she formed a heavymetal band Vladivojsko. Together they recorded the album Hořící hlavy (Burning Heads). The band was nominated for the discovery of the year award in a poll of hard styles Břitva and toured with the bands Wohnout or Insania. In 2017 Vladivojna La Chia recorded music for the movie 8 hlav šílenství directed by Marta Nováková. It tells a story of the Russian poetess Anna Barkovová. Later a CD of the same name was releaed (with guests like A. Langerová, L. Dusilová, Lucie Bílá, Kittchen etc.).
Currently her most important musical project is the accoustic band – 4Trio. Besides Vladivojna herself its members are Tereza Kovalova (cello), Sylvie Bee (a chanson singer), Luboš Pavlík (drums) and Petr Uvira (guitar). Vladivojna also devotes herself to setting to music the poetry of Anna Barkovová and with her band she stages recitals celebrating the extraordinary poetess and journalist.
Vladivojna has been living in Prague for over ten years. She graduated from the Department of Intermedia Studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Ostrava. All her life she persues also painting, drawing, ilustrations and comics. Her art has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions.
