A double bill featuring Itay Dayan's klezmer quintet playing music from Hoffman's Farewell and the Moshe Elamkias Trio Israeli clarinetist Itay Dayan has long been fascinated by old sources of Jewish music. So when the 1927 “Hoffman Book” became available to the public in 2023 he knew this was his chance to explore new possibilities for klezmer music. “Hoffman’s Farewell” is Itay’s latest project, staying true to the old klezmer style and repertoire while pursuing new and contemporary creative directions. “As in any good Jewish drama, Dayan’s album has as many laughs as there are somber moments amidst some good old fashioned chaos.” Miri Villerius, Oyer Joined by some of today’s most promising klezmer musicians, Itay and the band will be touring the east coast this fall, playing in Northampton, New York City, Philadelphia, DC and more. Rebecca Mac – fiddle Mattias Kaufman – accordion Ben Friedland – bass Jeff Sagurton – drum Moshe Elmakias (27) is an Israeli pianist and composer. With a virtuosic personal style, he is one the most exciting pianists among the new generation of Israeli jazz musicians. While touring professionally around the world, Elmakias completed his bachelor’s degree at the Jerusalem Academy (2017) and his master’s degree at the New England Conservatory (2021). Elmakias has worked with some of the top musicians in the jazz and world music scenes, including Larry Klein, Manu Katche, Billy Hart, Dayna Stephens, and Mor Karbasi. With more than 20 albums on his discography, Elmakias lives, plays, and teaches in NYC, while performing worldwide. Moshe Elmakias – piano Billy Hart – Drums Ben Tiberio – Bass

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Israeli clarinetist and composer Itay Dayan is making waves in the klezmer scene. With his latest album, Hoffman's Farewell, Itay showcases his mastery of traditional klezmer while exploring innovative sounds and styles. His diverse musical journey includes collaborations with acclaimed groups like the Klezmer Conservatory Band, Meitar Ensemble, and the Israel Klezmer Orchestra, with which he has performed on stages around the world.
