Excellent concert, the band were brilliant as always and the set list was spot on.
The venue was perfect, and the atmosphere was great.
However, having to ‘join’ the club to get to the concert was disappointing. I have no objection, and I would say I actively encourage, supporting venues, please include it in the ticket price in future, as it felt like a ‘faff’ trying to get in.
The vibes at this show were wonderful. Katie Gregson-MacLeod made an excellent support act with gorgeous, passionate vocals and lots of jokey and fun interactions with the crowd. It had a laid back atmosphere to it.
Gigi herself was energetic, smiley and fully giving her all into her performance. The arrangements made for the songs on this tour were elaborate and really added an interesting dimension to the show. However, the setlist was not very well thought out, in my opinion. There were several unreleased songs (I believe 4 out of the 10 songs on the setlist) and not many from her only complete album. The Dutch crowd (who were noticeably less familiar with her music/new fans) could not sing along for half the concert.
Also, this gig was incredibly bass-heavy, which may not be pleasant for some concert-goers. There were a lot of shocked faces when the bass vibrated through our throats and lungs and made our clothes tremble. This could have simply been an issue with the venue, as the front of house was tucked away in a corner in the back of the hall (not central as is the custom). Either way, it made it a little difficult to enjoy parts of the performance.
Overall, it was a very wholesome experience and the crowd was screaming along to every major song - including myself.
The most impressive show I've ever been. How Shake approaches crowd - she gives an amazing feeling that we belong together to the one family and are syncing in one moment in a pure feeling of common nature. I tasted somehow a bittersweet sadness - like I've lost something, but got it back, when I heard the first melody of Petrichor. As an artist Dani is amazing, as a person she is someone beyond - she is full of love to her music and the world. How she spoke, about what she spoke and sang - everything was about love. All I can say - no regrets, despite one - I wish I could stay at that moment next to her with lingering feeling of an ephemeral sense of belonging a little bit longer.
It was awesome. A nice cosy atmosphere. Good sound from about 19,30 until 21 hours. Played all my favorite well know songs. Nice meeting all of them after the show in the basement of Paradiso Amsterdam. Very down to earth band and singer. Hope to see them again soon.
Brilliant!! Stonking performance all round. Came for the solo stuff - 3 great albums full and had not even contemplated Only Ones stuff being played - so that was an added bonus including a stupendous rendition of The Beast. This gig was way above expectations and zero disappointment. Nice change to be in a small and intimate venue (kleine zaal) although PP and the entire band would deserve the fruits of selling out at a much bigger venue.
Kacey has an awesome stage personality. In fact, this time on stage she outperformed her recordings with a voice. Oh what a world and then there is she! Fun, entertaining and band and voice that give the impression the rental of the recording studio wasn't much more than tipping in a restaurant How can you go wrong with this combustion of absolut talent!? (It's a wrap up. What? No 2nd take of any track) What's to improve on perfection? Nothing of course and that message was communicated loud, masterful and clear in Paradiso.
Lucky to have seen Pixies (and Frank Black) live countless times during the last 3 decades in all their different line-ups, this was for me probably their best performance ever. Paradiso almost always sounds amazing but today it was MAGIC. Surely best sound of a concert in a long time. Congratulations to everyone involved, including sound engineers and technicians! Big thank you from a fellow musician.
Great to see the Pixies again after a long time. I felt the venue was too crowded for everyone to have a great experience. I noticed quite a number of small musical errors. But I reckon I was the only one. It was nevertheless a gig to keep in mind for live!
Awesome concert. Paradiso went completely wild. The band obviously was having fun and the audience was having fun too. The virtuosity when playing their instruments, the Watkins sis and bro and of course Chris Thyle, was of a completely different catagory. Masterclass of folk and bluegrass. Finally, after almost 20 years I was able to see them live. It was worth the wait.
Nickel Creek live at Paradiso was great. The atmosphere in the venue was magnificent. It lifted the band to an even higher level. The band members were euphoric about the audience that was eager to take them to America. Nickel Creek played a lot of new material with an emphasis on bluegrass. For me, they could have played a little more old songs, but that didn't spoil the fun.
Super hype, the energy was out of the roof. He found the perfect balance between singing and dancing/entertaining the audience. He signed multiple people tshirts/ukuleles and he has couple of cool tricks to make it more interesting. I would very highly recommend his concert even if you dont know his songs lyrics.
This was such an amazing experience. The opening with Mr. Loverman really opened up the crowd. His stage presence was amazing.
Then Tamino and the band. I cant tell you how good they sound live, sometimes even better than the studio music. His voice is deep and at some points reaches this merman like sounds. 100/10 recommend it, even if you don't know the music go watch them.
Dutch diehard fans had been waiting a long time for Marty to come back to their country. It had been more than 20 years since the man had played on Dutch soil, let alone ever took the stage with his Fabulous Superlatives. It was well worth waiting for. The band performed a perfect concert in the Dutch equivalent of the Ryman, showcasing all they got with lead roles for each band member. Mr. Stuart by all means proved to be country royalty, delivering each song with the pride, swagger, sincerity and conviction he is so known for, you just had to believe every word escaping his lips and every tasteful note squeezed out from his vintage prototype b-bender Telecaster. Kenny Vaughan was on fire, another master on the Telecaster. Chris Scruggs stole the show with his awesome bass playing while “Handsome” Harry Stinson nailed the vocals of a few good ole “Easy Rider” tunes.
After the show the gentlemen were so kind to take their time and meet with fans outside the venue for a chat and a photo opportunity. Hopefully this band won’t wait so long again to return for another concert in The Netherlands.
Léon gave an excellent performance! Even though it was really hot with sweat dripping down places I didn't know could sweat (there was a heat wave going on in the Netherlands), I liked the show very much. The artist herself also had some struggles with the heat, but that didn't stop her from performing great. Vocally it was amazing, she interacted really cutely with the audience sharing personal stories, and turned the place up with her goofy and adorable dance moves!
This was the first show seeing Léon live, but this definitely won't be my last.
On the 8th of june we could finally see Larkin Poe after a covid delay of 2 years. I saw the 11 years ago on The Cayamo music cruise and they were at the beginning of their carrier, with al more folkish music catalogue. May concerts and years further they were great in Paradiso amsterdam, main stage. Their blues rock show is very energetic with an enthousiastic performance of their front ladies Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Live is great when you can visit this show and enjoy all the positive power.
Wow ! Looking forward to their new album which is been set in november. We heard a couple of new songs and they remain the high quality at ease.
If they are playing in your country next time.....buy tickets !
jan putting dutch fan
It’s amazing how much attention they paid to the fans while still bringing an excellent show. Not just VIP’s got to meet them, they went into the crowd during and afterwards the show and I think these are the things that really bring a connection between them and the fans. I can’t explain how amazing the show itself was, it feels incredible to scream and jump around in a room full of beautiful, cool people. 11/10 experience
With this sort of status as a serious artist, and a performer, she should have invested in better dancers and an actual choreographer. I really looked forward to this concert and left it rather disappointed. "Contaminated" would have been so beautiful without those two witches from AHS season 3 prancing around in the background.
Straight electrified by his placed truthfully voice!
His burning lyrics serves our soul to feel darkness catching and love rebirth in songs.
The fabulous instrumentals parts enhanced the rythme running into my blood making me more alive! Hope to see them soon again!
Amazing and wonderful last concert live tour for this year in Amsterdam!!! Thanks a lot!!!!
Great concert! John Butler played a series of string instruments, such as acoustic and electric guitar, twelve strings guitar, banjo and ukulele. Always with emotion! The band is bigger now and, to me, there’s too much percussion. Nice place, everything was great! Now, please, come to Rio de Janeiro!
