Join us in Unity's comfy listening space for a fabulous night of song and story by TWO dynamic duos! Unity in the Valley continues their concert season featuring Tucson-based acoustic duo, RISO, with Sabra Faulk and Amber Norgaard opening the evening. For the last decade, Matt and Rebekah Rolland, who form the core of the acoustic band RISO of Tucson, Arizona, have been on the road with their nationally-acclaimed Americana band, Run Boy Run, participated as artists-in-residence for the National Parks Centennial, appeared twice on American Public Media's "A Prairie Home Companion and collaborated on eight studio albums. RISO is rooted in the acoustic soundscapes of their respective childhoods, and embraces an old-time aesthetic that seems to emanate from the very bones of the earth yet incorporates pop flourishes and sometimes complex arrangements. Their new album "New Eyes" was released July 15, 2022 and ranked in the top albums of 2022 by For Folk's Sake. Their 2018 album, Seed & Silo, co-produced by the two for Rebekah’s National Parks residency, was dubbed “a slice of folk perfection” by Americana UK and placed in the top three of Pop Matters’ Best Folk Albums of the Year. Sabra and Amber deliver a fun, rootsy performance of their original songs. The duo blends country, folk, blues and rock into a style of their own. Sabra Faulk is an award-winning songwriter, bassist, vocalist and acoustic guitarist who has been a staple in the southern AZ musical community for the past 30 years. She joins forces with Amber Norgaard, a nurse turned musician who is described as "a songwriter to be reckoned with" (Tucson Lifestyle) and “Tucson’s folk-rock goddess” (Natural Awakenings).
