Bruno Sanfilippo is a musician, producer, and composer based in Barcelona, with a classical education, who graduated from the Galvani Conservatory, in Buenos Aires. He basically writes for strings, piano, and electronics. His focus alternates between the exploration of minimalist piano concepts and electro-acoustic music. He is obsessed with the search for new and unique qualities in music, the magical and the deep. When you dream, there is no imagined thing that is too absurd, too strange, and Sanfilippo's music comes from that inexhaustible and brazen source. The artist began playing on an old Pleyel upright piano as a child, at his parents' house in Buenos Aires. Although he was inspired by several genres, in his early years he was influenced by composers such as Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, and contemporary musicians such as Arvo Pärt, Brian Eno and Harold Budd.
His first recordings were published in 1991, and in 1998 he started as Producer in ad21, a personal platform/label that has released most of his albums, except 'The Poet', which he signed with 1631 Recordings & Decca Publishing in 2016, and 'Unity' released through the Russian label Dronarivm in 2018. He has also collaborated on several projects with the labels 7K! and Thesis.
Piano Textures Series, started in 2007, is one of the most representative works of the artist. These textures float smoothly through various passages, ranging from melodious and illuminating to quiet and contemplative with a strong cinematic feel.
He gained some fame among hip-hop fans since a fragment from one of his piano compositions formed the basis of the popular song by Canadian musician Drake, ‘Started from the Bottom’.
In addition to the published titles on streaming platforms, Bruno has a series of albums available exclusively through the Bandcamp music service. Some of these solo and collaborative works were released in American labels between 2008 and 2012. He often performs in live and multimedia events at different stages and festivals of the world.
