Most people associate the name of the island on Canada's east coast with solitude, wilderness, adventure .... Folk music also plays a major role on the island - although clearly Celtic and influenced by seafaring, it still has its own, recognizable style - such as the folk band Rum Ragged, which comes from Newfoundland and will start its first major European tour in October 2025. With a unique interpretation of the Eastern Canadian folk music of Newfoundland, Aaron Collis, Mark Manning, Colin Grant and Zack Nash delight their audience with bouzouki, fiddle, bodhran, banjo, guitar and button accordion as well as polyphonic songs about the sea and life on the island. Their honest and lively performance, which skilfully combines tradition and modernity, has already earned them a nomination for the JUNO Award.
