Die Shiny Biography

Somewhere between the dreamy saturated new-wavy synthscapes of their 2020 debut EP and the alt hip-hop revolutionary rants of late, Salt Lake City phenom Die Shiny has exploded on to the underground scene as the act to keep an eye on.

With a prolific social media grind, a default setting of solidarity, and a knack for cranking out catchy bangers, the electropop duo seems to be attracting something of a cult following - a quirky group of neurodivergent misfits and queers, undoubtedly curated by the personalities behind the art.

Aside from being inseparable besties and life partners, Songwriter/Front-man Callie Crofts and Drummer/Producer Zac Bryant are a well-tuned and deeply symbiotic creative team. The couple has devoted the better part of the last decade to relentlessly pursuing a life in music - a path that is not for the faint of heart.

Crofts’ songwriting holds nothing back and strays from consistent formula, while somehow managing to create hooky earworms that feel entirely unique. After dropping their feminist anthem Healthy Sex Drive in summer of 2023, the 2024 release of their sophomore EP lit a beacon for the local Ex-mormon community in the form of Sacrament - a song about reclaiming self-sovereignty from the patriarchy. The song’s stunning music video filmed by local Ryan Margetts grabbed the title of Best Music Video at every festival it was selected for. Shortly after the wildly successful sophomore release and coming out as non-binary, Crofts wrote Chrysalis, a touching tribute to trans lives.

A discography that is bursting with fierce candor and purpose married to an emotionally energizing show with their five-piece live band has firmly established Die Shiny as local queer icons and fearless activists. With the release of their third EP Glory, the band plans to venture out of Utah for their first regional tours and immediately start work on future releases.
