The Great Affairs Biography

THE GREAT AFFAIRS

From the Americana-leaning tendencies of early efforts, to the full-blown Rock swagger of their recent works, The Great Affairs have never been afraid to shake things up a bit, letting the songs lead the way rather than a concern for adhering to any specific genre. This is readily apparent on their latest release ‘Sleepwalker’, a record where they slide right out of a piano-driven, ELO-esque Pop ballad, and into a greasy, slithering, Aerosmith-inspired riff without batting an eye.

According to Co-Lead Vocalist Denny Smith - “Kenny brings the Bad Company & the Bon Scott, I bring the Cheap Trick & the Rick Springfield, and in the middle we meet.” It’s at this halfway point that the magic starts to happen. Capturing the alchemy once again is longtime Co-Producer Michael Saint-Leon, a two-time Grammy Winner who has been tracking The Great Affairs at his Nashville, TN studio The Switchyard for over a decade.

‘Sleepwalker’, their first full length album since 2020, features 10 tracks that showcase both a love of loud guitars & big drums, and an obvious knack for crafting hooks that stick.

“This is a band who know exactly who they are and where they come from…. and therein lies their greatness.” -Melanie Henderson, Wildside Music

THE GREAT AFFAIRS are:
Denny Smith: vocals, rhythm & lead guitars, harmonica, keys
Corey “Rizzo” Rozzoni: lead & rhythm guitars, vocals
Matt Andersen: bass, vocals
Kenny Wright: vocals, drums, percussion

The Great Affairs have shared the stage with Skid Row, Warrant, Buckcherry, Tom Keifer of Cinderella, Loverboy, Cowboy Mouth, The Wild Feathers, LIT, Nelson, Jack Russell’s Great White, Firehouse, Trixter, Bulletboys, Enuff Z’Nuff, John Corabi(The Dead Daises/Motley Crue), Steven Adler(GNR), The Quireboys, Loudness, Mike Tramp(White Lion), Eric Martin(Mr. Big), Pat Travers, Walter Egan, Head East, Every Mother’s Nightmare, L.A. Guns, Lillian Axe, Alien Ant Farm, and even a Goonie, but you might have to pry that story out of them.

What the critics are saying:

“‘Everybody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt’ will fall on your ears like gravy on a biscuit. Traditional style songwriting and a raw, big band sound. This album should tickle your fancy if you love the classics like the Stones, Black Crowes, Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, and all things downright dirty.”
-Bryan Blake, Vinyl Lollipops

"..a surefire cure for your ailing rock n' roll heart"
-Eric Allen, Modern Songwriter

“Classic American rock 'par excellence' emanates from Nashville's The Great Affairs; think hooky choruses and guitar lines, classy songwriting, top-notch arrangements and fine musicianship.”
-Simon Lambert, Ballroom Blitz
