Crux ov Torment

Brutal outfit Crux ov Torment manifest a demonic sound comprised of blackened death metal injected with the high intensity of thrash, drama of doom, and momentum of groove death. Based out of Buffalo, NY, founding members Jose Ortiz and Will Burtis share a musical history having performed together in the early 2000s. Fast forward to the summer of 2019, Ortiz and Burtis reconnected and the foundations of Crux ov Torment were laid. Ortiz's son, Vlad, joined in on bass not long afterward.

In spring of 2022, the duo recruited The Agonist’s drummer Simon McKay to record percussion for their debut album, In the Name of Suffering, which was released in June of 2024.

Drawing influences from the likes of Rotting Christ, Behemoth, Lamb of God, Metallica, and Fear Factory, the band seek to craft their own distinctive sound and avoid falling into genre constraints. Each work they produce carries its own identity ranging from anguish-fueled, guttural onslaughts to riff-focused, rhythmic assaults.
