WHEN: 5/31/25 Doors: 5:00 PM Music: 5:30PM - 8:30PM WHERE: Don Patti Gym at Takoma Park Presbyterian Church 310 Tulip Ave, Takoma Park, MD DRY VENUE, RESPECT THE SPACE WHO: D.M.V. - harDCore PSYOP - DC hardcore for the surveillance state era. Since forming in 2021, PSYOP has released 2 EPs and been performing to DIY shows and mid-sized venues across the Mid-Atlantic, gaining an underground following. Their music is influenced by the classic 80s raw hardcore sound of DC and the West Coast, with confrontational vocals and apocalyptic lyrics. Psyop aims to capture the punk ethos in action both through their music and commitment to social causes (Palestinian liberation, LGBTQ rights, anti-fascism). Their third EP, Defector, is slated for release in summer of 2025. BED MAKER - Bed Maker's origins date back to summer 2019, when bassist Arthur Noll (Light Beams, Kid Congo Powers) and drummer Vin Novara (The Crownhate Ruin, 1.6 Band), each having played in Alarms & Controls, invited guitarist Jeff Barsky (Insect Factory, Time Is Fire) to collaborate and see what might happen. By autumn, they invited Amanda MacKaye (Desiderata, Routineers) to join them, and the chemistry was immediate. In February 2020 at DC's Rhizome, Bed Maker played their first show and then paused their activities the following month, as did most people. Bed Maker resumed playing shows in November 2022. CINEMA HEARTS - An ex-page ant queen fronts a rock 'n' roll band? Cinema Hearts has a pulsing passion for days gone by. It’s the sparkling indie rock project of Washington, D.C. singer-songwriter and former Miss America contender Caroline Weinroth, whose music captivates audiences around the world with playful lyricism, moody guitar riffs, retro song references, and dramatic pageantry. Backed by a powerful rhythm section, with Massimo Zaru-Roque on bass and Danny Ortiz on drums, Cinema Hearts presents a firecracker of a show. Following their 2024 SXSW tour, Rolling Stone picked Cinema Hearts as one of the best live acts to see. FOOD NOT BOMBS DC - Food Not Bombs DC rescues surplus food from grocery stores, bakeries, farmers markets, etc. and cooks free vegan meals to anyone in need, no questions asked. FNB DC has been sharing weekly vegan meals since 2013.
