Zaq Baker Biography

Ranging from the quirky to the desperately earnest, Zaq Baker’s original music is featured in new film How to Break a World Record (Apple TV, Amazon Prime). Zaq also shared the keynote speaking and performing role at Youth Mental Health Days, sharing songwriting guidance as a form of coping tools for tough times.

Churning out synthpop with sparkling vocal features — brand-new singles “bri,” “jetlag,” and “treadmill” — Zaq Baker’s style brings together piano pop, musical theatre, pop-punk, emo and more. His catalogue shares relatable stories on love, mental illness, and growing up.

Zaq’s brand-new debut novel, Unspectacular — a music story — has garnered praise from Louder Than War magazine (UK) as “a must-read for those seeking a relatable, heartfelt take on modern life and the pursuit of purpose.” Press lauds Unspectacular as "thought-provoking and emotionally resonant… unique and authentic [with] sharp prose and biting humour… an inspiring exploration of resilience and growth.” A family dramedy and immigration story, Unspectacular deals in daydreams and ambition and is available at sixteen bookstores and three bakeries.

Zaq's YouTube material includes four music videos (83K views, 74K views), concert rockumentary If It’s Not Zaq Baker Live at the Green Room, I’m Not Going, and two more live sessions.

June's installment of A Very Unspectacular Book Tour brings full sets of original Zaq Baker songs to Chicago, IL / Akron, OH / Newport, KY / Providence, RI / Philadelphia, PA / Cambridge, MA / Hartford, CT / and Pittsburgh, PA.
