JESHUA MARSHALL Biography
Background:
Jeshua started the Americana Punk band - Larry And His Flask with his brother Jamin over 20 Years ago. In LAHF and on his own Jeshua toured Europe 12 times, did the Van's Warped tour, and played in every state in the US and every province in Canada. He has played countless festivals, dance halls, dive bars, backyards, and street corners.
Collaborations:
Jeshua has worked with Danny Attack, Tommy V, Pedro Erazo (Gogol Bordello), Willy Tea Taylor, Jason Dea West, Gambeat (Radio Bemba Sound System and Manu Chao), and Alfredo Ortiz (Beastie Boys & Gogol Bordello). He is a talented writer, performer, composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist. Jeshua's musical style is a mix of his Punk Rock roots, Reggae, Americana, and Indie Rock.
Instruments:
Apart from the guitar, Jeshua also plays the stand-up bass, harmonica, and baritone horn. Jeshua takes his art and profession very seriously and loves to keep busy. When he is not playing music or touring he is involved heavily in the Bend, Oregon music community.
Media Quotes:
Now, as a solo artist, all of those influences have been channeled into a soulful, upbeat gospel sound, but one driven by breezy brass, groove-some, funky rhythms, slick guitar licks, and, gorgeous and mature vocal tones. “Water” is the sound of the modern age being offered a new take on timeless sounds. It is also a reminder that there are plenty of new places to take the established genres of the past and that all sounds and styles are ripe for reinvention. How do I know? Because I have just listened to Jeshua Marshall, that’s how.
-Dave Franklin - The Big Takeover
Jeshua Marshall is known and loved for his energetic theatrics and genre-bending musical genius.
- The Source Weekly
Anyone who enjoys the drive of the 60s Sly & the Family StoGlobevill2ne, the inventiveness rock cum rhythm & blues of Prince & soul crooning of Angelo Bond will find this engaging. While the instrumentation has flare & sparks it never comes gets out of control & remains gratifying. “Water” opens the set & by “The Flood,” a more reggae-inspired tune plugged into a highly charged presentation is a winner. The songs have an enticing array of styles. Varied brass takes that make each song convincing. A highly enjoyable showcase.
-Americana Highways
Fast-paced and loaded with equal parts organic and distorted sound design, Jeshua Marshall injects a heavy hit of rhythm and anthem-like energy into the scene with this infectious and striking new single No More. Drawing subtle comparisons style-wise with the likes of Rusted Root as much so as Cat Empire and even The Hives to an extent, the song soon goes on to further increase its brightness with a conceptual writing style that draws on precisely the issues that have torn apart societies and the lives of many; culminating in a plethora of riots and divide across America in 2020. Underneath this, we get a clear sense of intention and topical poignancy. Brilliant.
Well worth a listen.
- Stereo Stickman
With its amalgamation of styles ranging from funk to reggae to Americana, The Flood reveals delicious wrinkles of aural flair.
