Wild Anima Biography
“[…] Like Enya on a Julianna Barwick trip, Wild Anima fills the air with magic, and soft light seems to permeate the woods even in the middle of the night.[…]“ - Cassette Gods
Wild Anima is a French-Greek artist who fuses ancient melodies reminiscent of mermaid-like choirs through live looping tapestries to create tender and organic ethereal music.
Wild Anima is the musical project of Alex Helene Alexopoulos, sound artist, singer-songwriter and composer. Through experimental ambient pop, she explores the deep feminine and the intimate relationship between humans and nature. Inspired by Byzantine chants, Bulgarian polyphony and trip-hop music, she creates soundscapes combining field recording, vocal live looping and electronic textures.
Having made her debut in England in the 2010’s, she evolved within Berlin's alternative scene and the female:pressure network, before founding her own Sacred Sea label. Her work, imbued with mysticism and eco-feminism, is also embodied in artistic and therapeutic experiments, such as the Supernatural project, blending plant music, ecology of emotions and collective re-enchantment. In 2022, she collaborated with the HeartMath Institute on the composition of meditative music for the Inner Balance app. Now based in Marseille, she continues her exploration of sound between performance, spiritual research and ecological commitment.
