Dirty Brain Biography
Dirty Brain has created a cathartic experience for rock listeners that teems with nostalgia and urgency. Listeners can expect to feel invigorated, challenged, and entertained as the band artfully blends humor with heartfelt emotion, making each song an unforgettable listening experience. Drawing from the raw energy of post-grunge, Dirty Brain’s sound is modern yet reminiscent, offering a refreshing twist on a classic vibe. Under the expertise of Nick Morzov, known for his work with Blink-182, Animals as Leaders and Loveless, Dirty Brain has captured a sound that Roadie Music Mag called "intense and full of fabulous atmospheres that are striking and very original.” Their single, “All Billionaires Go to Space” showcases their signature intensity, complete with a visually stunning music video directed by the acclaimed music video director, Robyn August. The roots of Dirty Brain stretch back to high school, where childhood friends Will Schmidt and Ian MacKenzie discovered a shared passion for music. After years of playing classical music, they eventually began delving into rock, covering bands like Linkin Park, Muse and Coldplay. It wasn’t until 2021, however, that the true vision for Dirty Brain began to take shape, as they collaborated with Philadelphia music scene veteran Paul Buondonno and later recruited Mike Zajac and Aidan Riess. More than just a band, Dirty Brain is a group of friends committed to making music that resonates and invites others into their journey. Whether live or on record, they deliver a unique experience—music that’s equal parts powerful, relatable, and impossible to ignore.
