Every Thursday | 7–10 PM | Easy Tiger Beer Garden | 2108 S Broad St, Winston-Salem, NC
Join Vintage Astronaut for an ongoing weekly residency at Easy Tiger Beer Garden, where deep improvisation, genre-defying performance, and sonic exploration take center stage.
Led by John Daniel Ray on bass, synthesizers, and computer effects, the core trio includes Jonathan Greene on drums, and Joseph Dowdy on saxophones, winds, and live effects, with special guest collaborators joining every week. Each session is completely improvised—no rehearsals, no setlists—just a real-time musical dialogue between players and audience.
Every show is recorded live and released on www.vintageastronaut.com, where listeners can subscribe to the full archive for just $5/month—a simple and sustainable way to support this ongoing project.
Supporting local artists is more important than ever. When you show up, donate, or subscribe, you’re helping to keep our creative community alive and thriving.

Vintage Astronaut Biography
Vintage Astronaut is a NC based progressive jazz ensemble; featuring the thoughtful rhythmic musings of celebrated master percussionist Jonathan Collin Greene, the harmonic wonders of avant synthesist Michael Kinchen, and led by heroic captain and digital/analog low frequency pioneer John Daniel Ray. Their music will literally rearrange the molecular configurations in your body to a more harmonious state and thus erase greed and hatred from the world.
