Liza + Willie met in music class at Newtown High School, Queens, New York. They both joined the guitar class where they performed at school concerts. They became very good friends and even wrote songs together. Willie created a bachata group called "Juventud" and was the lead guitarist and Liza was the female singer of the group. Liza and Willie later became musicians for the artist "Andy Andy." Willie was second guitarist, and Liza was the backup singer. Shortly after they formed another bachata band named "MW" (Many Ways) with Liza, Willie and their friend Melvin. "MW" was signed to RFG Records and distributed by J&N Records.
