Gordon Lockwood Biography
Gordon Lockwood, a blues duo including singer and guitarist Jeremiah Lockwood and drummer Ricky Gordon. Originally fellow accompanists to blues legend Carolina Slim, Gordon and Lockwood have been making music together for more than 20 years.
Jeremiah Lockwood is a musician and scholar working in the fields of Jewish studies, performance studies, and ethnomusicology. The author of the new book, Golden Ages: Hasidic Singers and Cantorial Revival in the Digital Era, Lockwood has recorded more than a dozen albums with his band The Sway Machinery and other projects.
Ricky Gordon is a drummer, percussionist, composer and Educator. To name a few, he has performed and recorded with Wynton Marsalis, The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Public Enemy, The Fraternity Order of The Society Blues and Jon Batiste, among others. A frequent collaborator with filmmaker Spike Lee, Gordon recently worked on the Jon Batiste Oscar-nominated documentary American Symphony. In May 2024, he played with Jon Batise as he opened for the Rolling Stones at Met Life Stadium
