Dee Montero Biography
Dee Montero is a true lifer in the world of electronic music. A former Mambo Ibiza resident, he gained widespread recognition in 2017 when his string-infused anthem "Halcyon" was named Pete Tong's Essential Tune of the Year on BBC Radio One. Originally released on Solomun's renowned Diynamic label, "Halcyon" marked yet another genre defining moment in a long and illustrious career.
Since then, Dee has continued to captivate listeners worldwide with standout EPs such as ‘Shadows’ on All Day I Dream, ‘Shanti’ on Days Like Nights, and the exhilarating ‘In The Wild’ and ‘Headspace’ on Anjunadeep. Dee's global presence has spanned from Asia to America, with performances in Australia, India, Dubai, and regular appearances at Burning Man, where he's graced the Robot Heart and Carl Cox’s Playground stage.
In 2020, Dee launched his own label, Futurescope, bringing together fellow musical innovators like Patrice Baumel, Fort Romeau, and Lauer for remix collaborations. 2022 saw the release of his debut 12-track artist album ‘Artifacts’, showcasing his signature melodic craftsmanship, with tracks like "Maya"—a nod to Future Sound Of London's Papua New Guinea—capturing the hearts of listeners with Rodriguez Jr. remixing and elevating the track to even greater heights.
Dee's recent output has further solidified his position in the upper echelons of electronic music. From releases on Nora En Pure’s Purified with "Aquila" to "Freedom" on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, his music has captivated listeners far and wide. His nostalgic Cosmica EP, crafted with analogue love was inspired by his Balearic roots reflecting his ever-evolving musical vision.
At the end of 2024, Dee took another significant step in his career with the release of "Retina," a stunning indie dance single on Berlin's Mobilee. Always looking forward, 2025 will mark the next chapter with the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Stay Fiction, due in May. With this album, Dee Montero is set to continue his ascent as one of the leading voices in electronic music.
