About this concert
To celebrate Record Store Day 2025 and the release of Giles' new song 'Give Me Tonight' (out on the 11th April), Giles will be performing live in store at HMV, Reading in the Oracle centre. Giles will be playing an original set with his spectacular live looping performance, including brand new and unreleased songs.
Giles Stelfox is an independent artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Reading, UK. Giles's unique sound fuses hard hitting indie-rock guitars, big live drums and lush synth pop soundscapes topped with his heartfelt lyrics about the highs and lows of life. His songs tell stories of romance, obsession, euphoria and self-reflection with a music backdrop that makes you dance, sing and lose yourself. His up and coming new music takes inspiration from modern artists ‘Glass Animals’, ‘Foals’, ‘The 1975’ and ‘Bleachers’.
Acclaimed by BBC Introducing, Giles was a semi-finalist at The Pilton Stage, Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition in 2022, performing in front of music industry legends including Michael Eavis (Glastonbury Festival founder). His one-shot ’Live at Studio 91 Sessions' videos were showcased by Oxfam virtual festival ‘VOxjam’ in 2021 with critical acclaim; “Giles is an ingenious artist who manages to flesh out his pop songs with just himself and his own wizardry" - Shaun Keaveny, BBC Radio 6.
Giles self produces all his records in the studio and recreates his songs live using the spectacular art of real-time live looping, challenging the very definition of live performance. Using guitars, drum machines, percussion and a looper, Giles produces the sound of a band whilst only being a solo performer. His live show is heavily inspired by looping artists Ed Sheeran & Katie Tunstall and multi-instrumentalists Jack Garratt & Youngr.
Giles started his solo career in 2018, establishing his sound and style with singles 'Your Intentions' and 'Heart You Hide', produced by Platinum selling record producer, Sam Winfield (Studio 91). He released new music in 2020, including personal favourites 'You Talk Dirty With Wine' and 'Why Do We Lose Them?', both being entirely self-produced. After a songwriting hiatus, he resumed work on new music in 2023 after performing as a covers musician in bars and clubs across the UK. Over 200 gigs later, Giles rediscovered his desire to write again.
In April 2025, Giles released his huge new rock meets indie-disco track ‘Give Me Tonight’, starting a new era of music releases across 2025. Expect more new music in June and August with dates soon to be announced…
