Sarah Mootz Biography

Sarah Mootz (born November 25, 1996 in Fort Myers, Florida) is an American singer, songwriter and master of her emotional landscape. She “was always making different noises” her mother says and at seven years old she began singing youtube karaoke as a means of escape. Around the same time frame she received special recognition for her poetry at school. Fast forward to middle school where she was bullied and started using her life’s trials as ammunition to find her own voice within music. After receiving a superior rating at her first singing competition she picked up a guitar and began writing songs to tell her story. She played every show she could get her hands on and at the age of 17 received an invite from producer Pat Holt to come to Nashville and start recording. With credits such as Johnny Cash and James Taylor, Holt saw something special in Sarah that he could not deny. She was crafting an unduplicatable sound. With a passion for storytelling she fuses influences from her soulful roots like Patty Griffin, and Joss Stone with elements of Iconic pop and rock music.

After taking a gap year from college, and working full time she began releasing music independently in 2018. She transferred to The University of Georgia to attend the music business program and eventually, dropped out of college to gig full time and begin building her brand.

Through years of experience Sarah has learned the art of creating intimate stripped down performances, and dynamic full band shows. Her latest LP, Human Condition to be released in 2025, pushes boundaries and reveals her most authentic self. She’s been recognized as a “Local Legend” in Athens after selling out The Georgia Theater Rooftop and sharing the stage with notable acts like Vista Kicks, Habibi, Sam Burchfield, and Plastic Picnic.
