Blindman Biography
BLINDMAN IS AN INSPIRED REGGAE/ROCK ARTIST AMONGST A NEW GENERATION OF TALENT FORGING A PATH IN PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL OF LOVE, PEACE & UNITY.
His innovative blend of music can be described as a simple and catchy fusion of jam-rock and reggae, with a hint of hip-hop, folk, jazz and blues. Blindman writes all of his songs with one clear message: “see with your heart.”
As a bandleader, front man, songwriter, keyboardist, hype man, and percussionist, Blindman has shared the stage with an eclectic group of internationally acclaimed artists including Kanye West, The Roots, Julian Marley, Talib Kweli, Wyclef, Slightly Stoopid, Barrington Levy, Common, Jimmy Cliff, The Original Wailers, CeeLo, Robert Randolph, Fishbone, Madball, Napalm Death, VOD, Ludacris, and the Black Eyed Peas. He has been performing live music since the age of 16 and has performed everywhere from the garage to the main stage. Performing to a wide variety of audiences, Blindman has matured into a stand-out, must-see entertainer. “The fact is playing underground hard-core shows, college jam-outs, rock festivals, and reggae-a-thons have all taught me that nothing can deny the energy an artist brings to the stage. People go to concerts to feel the music and it is up to the artist to bring it.”
Blindman's band, b.k.a. "Blindman & The Dopifyerz" began it's formation in 2011 when he met violinist Karl Schlegel serving in the music ministry at church. The two then joined the band Universal Rebel and met drummer Sean Patton as well as playing in the hip-hop reggae band RAINation supporting Slightly Stoopid, Israel Vibration and The Original Wailers at some of the best local music venues including the Stanhope House and BB Kings NYC. During that time Blindman remained extremely active and also played in the rock band The Community where he began playing with bassist Chad Kesser and guitarist Steve Rags playing places like the Stone Pony and Hat City Kitchen as well as an abundance of bars and clubs where he met guitarist Kev Chiz from the reggae rock band Citris Distress. Out on the circuit, the band soon added Karen Rosen, who Blindman is quoted as calling "The coolest person in the band" on more than one occasion as she is a local music hero, appearing at almost every show, with every band, every where and somehow managing never to get hammered.
Blindman & The Dopifyerz first formed in support of Blindman's music catalog and dominantly plays his original songs but with a completely "Dopified" twist (pun intended) as the band is known for it's energy, good vibes, and jam outs! Blindman & The Dopifyerz is a must see experience leaving fans wanting more. The band jams for often 3 hours throwing in a few Dopifiyed covers of familiar classics ranging from Pink Floyd, Bob Marley and The Grateful Dead. Venues almost always want them back, because like the band, their fans like to have a good time for a very long time and never want to go home early!
In 2024, Blindman & The Dopifyerz were signed to the reggae rock label Rebel Sound Records and have put out solo releases under Blindman as well as live performances by Blindman & The Dopifyerz. Credits on upcoming releases include son of arguably the most legendary bassist of all-time and musical prodigy, Aston Barrett Jr (The Wailers), guitarist and OG Sir Donald Kinsey (Bob Marley & Peter Tosh) and Rica Newell (The Melody Makers, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley) as well as productions with super engineer Josh Gannet (Redman, Method Man, Wu-Tang, Steve Miller, Eric Clapton) coming out later this year.
