Nick Capaldi Biography

Nick Capaldi – a Dorset singer/songwriter whose debut single ‘In My Shoes’ hit No.1 on the Amazon Hot New Release list within a week of release and remained in the Top 20 Best Selling New Releases for five weeks. A track from his debut EP made a highly acclaimed appearance on the MOJO ‘Songs In The Key of Paul McCartney’ album.
Nick made music with friends Steve Balsamo (The Storys/Lead role in Jesus Christ Superstar) and Tim Hamill in Swansea Wales. The sessions produced four quirky rock pop songs that were released on an EP called ‘The Golden Summer’. Tracks from this were played on BBC Radio 2 by Whispering Bob Harris who also wrote the sleeve notes for the EP. Nick was invited into Radio 2 to perform a session for Bob Harris’s weekend show.
Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones/Peter Frampton/Marillion) started to record Nick at The Fish Factory Studio in North London with Kimsey producing. The album featured guests Patrick Campbell-Lyons (60s group Nirvana), blues rock guitarist Marcus Bonfanti and Saint Jude Vocalist Lynne Jackaman.
Nick then met Brad Pemberton (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals). Brad loved Nick’s songwriting and suggested doing some recording together in Nashville at Brendan Bensons studio. Benson (Raconteurs) produced and sung backing vocals on what was to be released as ‘Lovers Leap EP’ which also featured Jon Graboff (Cardinals) and Reno Bo (The Mooney Suzuki).
2017 saw Capaldi self-producing his next album ‘Neon Heart’ as well as playing most of the instruments. 2020 saw the release of another self-produced album ‘Tatty Hally and the Lost Magic’. This time Nick took on mixing/mastering duties as well. The album was released on 180g Gatefold Vinyl.
In 2020 Nick entered Abbey Road Studio 2 where four brand new songs were recorded for the EP ‘More Life Than You Can Shake A Stick At’ February 2021 on 10″ Gold Vinyl. Nick headlined The Raising Spirit Festival in 2021 and performed at Family Fest, local pubs and played a solo show at The Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne, with his band, The Neon Hearts. In 2022, he played festivals, headlining one and support act at another, as well as gigging at intimate nights at a local studio and bars.
He also set to work on his new album ‘You and All the Seasons’, released in Spring/Summer 2023. The album has won 3 awards so far, including ‘Best Recorded Work’ at the OMAs in 2024 and is on the long list for the MPG ‘Best Album’ award in April 2024. Singer David Essex described Nicks music on the album as "Very English with an early Genesis and Supertramp quality to it". The album featured Albert Lee, Richard Digance, Ian Jennings, Robbie McIntosh (McCartney, The Pretenders), Jody Linscott (McCartney, Elton John, Mike Oldfield) and the London Community Gospel Choir to name a few. Fresh from winning the Original Music Award, Nick regularly performs at several venues/festivals both as a solo artist and alongside a new full band including musicians, Robbie McIntosh and BJ Cole. Nick released an original Christmas Album, in 2024 receiving feedback describing it as ‘the next Phil Spector, without the drama’. He featured Aled Jones, Sam Brown and Louise Marshall on the album.
