About this concert
Join Grow the Flow and Making Waves at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center to engage in an evening of art in celebration of Great Salt Lake. The evening will begin with a free art build, open to the public where we will be making origami pelicans and brine shrimp finger puppets. Afterwards we will enjoy live music from Michael Louis Austin, refreshments, a silent auction, and a gallery of art works that were so kindly donated to us by local artists.

Michael Louis Austin Biography
"Michael Louis Austin = Jason Isabel x Ryan Adams." - SLUG Magazine
Michael wrote his first song on a plastic, American flag guitar in his mother‘s pantry on a rainy morning when he was just three years old. It freaked his mom out a little…
His recent releases are at the center of Alternative Country-Rock. His songs fit perfectly alongside Wilco, The Jayhawks, Old 97s, and Counting Crows. These 12 singles were produced in Las Vegas by Thaddeus Corea (son of jazz legend Chick Corea).
Michael performs both as a solo artist and with his band. He has opened shows for Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven, Nada Surf, The Spin Doctors, and Billy Strings. Previously the lead guitarist (and sometimes vocalist) of Las Vegas' 2017 Best Rock Band, The All-Togethers.
Sometimes songwriting is like tuning an old shortwave radio. Like trying to listen to a faraway place. Just slowly turning the dial, trying to get on the same wavelength so that you can commune with the past or catch glimpses of the future. Mostly though, we are sending messages out into the void hoping that we hear something echo back.
The songs that echoed back to Michael Louis Austin over the past few years are the best of his career. They not only carried with them tales of the need to let go of what hurt you, the fear of moving forward and at least one possible murder, but also the musical soundtrack that led him to and through his journey as a songwriter. Michael Louis Austin offers up a collection of songs about two people pulling each other out of the rubble of broken hearts, non-believers, missteps and deep regrets in an attempt to remind themselves that it actually could be different this time.
"Michael Louis Austin is a modern-day James Taylor"
- Craig Rice, former manager of the artist Prince
