Sfunk Biography
"Sfunk is. Eclectic. Eccentric and electric. A long time dancer, promoter, artist and DJ. With origins in the OG Midwest rave scenes of Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit...Sfunk has been behind the decks for nearly two decades both on stage and on air as co-host then host to WRST's Electronic Underground, and host to her own late night offering Nocturnal Dimension bringing underground djs to the airwaves in the Fox Valley circa 99-2004/5. Known for sets of glitchy, sexy and heavy house and drum n bass beats, sfunk is the definition of crowd pleaser." - DJ/Producer T.Rux
I am blessed by having so much talent being around me growing up in the Midwest. I picked up some 1200's as a baby raver and started playing just for myself originally, occasionally on my radio show (if I had a last minute cancelation) ... eventually transforming to playing intimate house parties. I took a brief hiatus while roller derby consumed my life, still playing records for myself. Then bam! barnyard boogie #19 in Chicago was the first event I played, I flew in, and at the start of my set my hands were shaking like crazy and luckily I didn't pee my pants when I experienced my first emergency autoloop lol. Anyway, I went from there to the historic Houston Silos for SDC's Where the Wild Things Are party on the Henny system, to blessing the skyline views at Sunset in downtown Houston, and returning to the motherland to play legendary barns in Wisconsin, small festivals in IL & TX, and the holy grail Jungle Bells in Atlanta. I continue to travel and I am super grateful for my peers that encouraged me to come out of the shadows and play for them, thank you so much i love you! Getting back to producing again slowly. See you on the dancefloor ❤️ 🐱
