Balvanera

Balvanera is an EBM duo formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina that proposes a hybrid, corporeal-spectral narrative. In 2015 Lucas and Agustina, after having gained experience in the hardcore punk scene, combined their narrative, aesthetic and sonic interests to explore a possible cinematic of the city.

They find their sonic influences in the coldwave and minimal synth of their first releases Delusion/Desire (2018) and Balvanera (2016) They become intensely caustic and cadenced in their latest release Courses of action (DKA, 2021) where the body and its diverse actuality are the mania, now with a growing electro, aggressive and danceable sound. Once again ruins, memory and psychogeography are recurring motifs.

Like the underground subconscious they integrate, Balvanera resonates with a cyberpunk ethos, where the dancefloor and the conflicted street gain continuity.

They have played in Argentina, Brazil, Perú and Chile in Latin and have toured the US in 2024, playing in parties such as Synthicide, Das Bunker, Sanctum Chicago among others.

They have been released in several national and international compilations such as the split with Theda Vara in Dispersion Records from Indonesia, the compilation Not so cold- A warm Wave Compilation by Sleepless Records from Berlin, Memorias de un Continente II for infravox Records from Perú among others. They have remixed the work of artists such as Shadow project by Rozz Williams (Christian Death) for Cleopatra Records and also the likes of Kiss of the Whip, Semantix and JG Outsider.
