M4TR Biography
M4TR (Music 4 The Revolution) brings you good times for the end times. Dance through dystopia with sonic dimensions of new wave, synthpop, disco, funk, soul, reggae, and rap thrusting you back and forth through time. M4TR began as a protest project in 2015 by founder AJ Solaris (songwriter/vox/synths/acoustic guitar/studio engineer). In 2025, M4TR releases its fourth album Love Is The Revolution and a ten-year retrospective on Bandcamp.
In 2023, M4TR released the No Tomorrow EP - with the hits Hooks, No Tomorrow and Siren Song. In 2024, the album M4TR LIVE was recorded at and later released at Jammin Java in Vienna, Virginia, featuring live band alum Laura Cook (vox), Mark Davenport (vox/guitars), Rich Andrews (bass/live engineer) and Owen Williams (drums).
Since 2017, M4TR has played across the Washington DC area at Jammin Java, The Renegade, Pearl Street Warehouse, Public Bar Live, The Pocket, The Runaway, Songbyrd Cafe, DC Pieshop, Adams Morgan Porchfest, Crossroads Music Fest, the Launch Music Festival, Tesla Takedown rallies and more.
In 2018, AJ released debut activist album Rock To Resist By, supported by M4TR’s first live band, featuring Monkey God and Walkout On Their World. During COVID lockdown, AJ released his second album Next with singles In It to Win It , Colorblind and Clean in 2020.
