Dustin's grandfather, Gerald Broussard, was also a skilled drummer, further exposing Dustin to musical talent within his family.

Dustin's musical influences span a range of genres and artists, including Wayne Toups, Damon Troy, Belton Richard, Otis Redding, and Conway Twitty.
