Strawberry Flats Biography
Austin-based band Strawberry Flats was born on a sweltering August afternoon in 2021 under a small sign at Mozart’s Coffee Shop reading "Late Night on the Lake.” There, Hannah and Tony found themselves drawn together by a shared love of coffee and roots music.
They’ve been called “darling and old-timey,” and they prefer that over any specific sub-genre of country music. They live somewhere at the crossroads of bluegrass, classic country, and punk.
Hannah's roots run deep as a multi-generational Mississippi-Delta native, where she spent most of her life until moving to Austin a decade ago. Tony's journey began in the heart of the midwest and led him through many places throughout the USA before landing in Austin.
Together, they weave their stories into songs that resonate with anyone who has ever felt the sting of heartbreak, the longing for community, or the desire to raise a mason jar to whatever life brings.
Their debut album, "Home Cookin'," is a testament to their down-home spirit, born from late-night jam sessions and recorded in a home studio that doubles as their bedroom closet. It's a raw and honest collection of originals that explore the universal themes of love, loss, and midnight revelry.
They are passionate about the connection they forge with their audience, tapping into the shared human experience with songs that feel like old friends. Their live shows are a celebration of American roots music, where Hannah's sweet yet soulful vocals and Tony's scrappy guitar licks intertwine with the mandolin melodies of Kyle Smith and the banjo rolls of Noah Griffin.
So whether you find them pickin' at a local jam or singing a Carter Family classic on a stage somewhere around Austin, Strawberry Flats invites you to pull up a chair, grab a cold drink, and let their music take you home.
