Ruchira Panda Biography
Arguably the most powerful voice in Indian Classical today, Ruchira wears the lone wolf badge of the Kotali Gharana of Indian Classical over a two-decade-long international career.
On one hand she composes and delivers pure Indian Classical khayals, thumris, taranas. As a crossover composer, she goes into strikingly original melodic improvisations within Indian Ragas, using her powerful vocals on a guitar/drums/EP base. She regularly tours in USA, UK, Central Asia and of course, her home, India.
As a philanthropist and the founder of Paramparik, she has helped finance thousands of underprivileged students through higher education.
As a Senior Fellow of the Ministry of Culture, India, she is researching the common roots between Arab Maqam and Indian Classical.
