Founded by JP Payton in early 2020, Freight has risen to the fore of the Upstate, NY's growing Americana landscape. With a uniqueness that has drawn comparisons to Wilco, The Grateful Dead, Dave Alvin, and other roots music heavyweights, the songs of Freight are sure to make a home deep in the hearts of their listeners.
Lead by seasoned songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and Midwest transplant, JP Payton and supported by singer-songwriter, Loveday Greene, Freight paints a moving harmonic portrait that engages audiences on an intimate level. Backed by drummer and Knoxville native Bowman Townsend (Black Lillies), veteran bassist Mike Brando (Janet Batch). Freight's groove is road-tested, danceable fun
