Jamile Biography
Originally from Brazil, Jamile is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after vocalists in the New York scene.
She has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Mezzrow, Smalls Jazz Club, Birdland, and Dizzy's Jazz Club, and has received high praise for her performances internationally. Jamile also opened for Rosa Passos, Kenny Barron, and Ron Carter at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Jamile regularly performs with many of NYC's current jazz luminaries such as Miki Yamanaka, Benny Benack III, Yotam Silberstein, to name but a few.
She captivates audiences with her unique phrasing and heartfelt tone influenced by the vocal jazz tradition, united with her unique Brazilian roots. She combines her passion for jazz, soul, R&B, Latin, and Brazilian music into a sound of her own, taking the audience on a journey of different rhythms and emotions.
Her latest album “Daring Two Be” (under La Reserve Records) in collaboration with Tony Davis and featuring the great Steve Wilson surpassed 500,000 streams. Jamile has music on all streaming platforms with her own projects as well as the project 'Don't Let Go', led by Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Mike Holober which received high praise.
