About this concert
Whitney Mongé returns to Fletcher, NC at Souther Williams Vineyard on Sunday May 25th from 1-4pm. This is a free event and open to the public. About the venue: The land known today as Souther Williams Vineyard has a long and storied history rooted in the spirit of family and friends. The land originally comprised most of what today is the Hoopers Creek valley and consisted of 10,000 acres back in the mid 1800’s. The 35 acre property, which is what is left today, forms the old original homeplace and you can still find remnants on the property today from an era gone by. Many years ago we fell in love with wine and have traveled the world over, exploring new regions and tasting some of the best wines in the world. This love drove us to start our own vineyard here in Fletcher, NC. Our wine region, known as Crest of the Blue Ridge, was named an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the summer of 2019 and we are located 20 minutes from Hendersonville and Asheville NC. We offer Eastern European vinifera and American Hybrid wines in our open air pavilion tasting room by our picturesque vineyards. Our goal is to provide world class wines in a laid back setting near the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. If you have a love for the mountains and want to experience new types of wines, please be our guest. We offer tastings, tours, and picnics in our beautifully manicured vineyards.

Whitney Monge Biography

Whitney Mongé is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who discovered the power of raw authenticity while honing her craft as a street performer. Whether on a bustling corner or elevated on a stage, her performances captivate with a blend of smoky, soulful vocals and poignant, whispered lyrics that draw listeners into a moment of truth. Raised on rhythm and blues in the Pacific Northwest, Whitney’s sound is shaped by the region’s alternative rock and indie folk scene, culminating in her own genre: Americana Soul.

Her rich, raspy voice, with its distinctive edge, has earned comparisons to artists like Brittany Howard and Lenny Kravitz. Whitney’s songwriting delves into narratives of the underdog, vulnerability, and resilience, evoking the storytelling depth of Tracy Chapman and Richie Havens.

In 2014, Whitney was a featured artist in the award-winning film Find Your Way: A Busker’s Documentary, alongside Chris Ballew of The Presidents of the United States of America and world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell. The three-year chronicle of her journey explores themes of creativity and success through the lens of street performance. The documentary, which was nominated for ten film awards, was screened at the CBGB Festival in New York City.

From 2018 to 2022, Whitney served two terms as a Governor on the Pacific Northwest Recording Academy Chapter Board (GRAMMYs). During her tenure, she advocated for greater local artist representation, organized member outreach events, and built bridges between emerging musicians and the academy’s extensive network. Her passion extends to mentoring up-and-coming artists, where she offers guidance on branding, songwriting, and artist development, and frequently serves as a guest panelist sharing insights from her experience as an independent artist.

With three acclaimed EPs—Steadfast (2014), Stone (2017), and Carry On (2018)—and a live album with the Grammy-winning Seattle Symphony, Whitney Mongé Live with The Seattle Symphony (2021), Whitney’s discography is a testament to her journey as a grassroots powerhouse.

In September 2024, Whitney will be releasing her studio version single of "What Would Love Do Now", followed by performances across the U.S. this fall.
