Mary-Charlotte Young Biography
Mary-Charlotte Young is the Appalachia-born,
Georgia-raised, Texas-based singer songwriter you didn’t know you were missing.
In keeping with folk tradition, Young tells stories through song. Stories of struggle, love, & a darker element of the human experience: murder. Imaginative lyrics, percussive guitar playing, and hard-hitting vocal melodies define her style both live and in studio. This voice can cut straight to the bone or lull you into dreams.
Mary-Charlotte draws inspiration from across the American musical landscape. Her influences range from Townes and Lucinda to Otis Redding and Jeff Mangum.
Though typically a solo acoustic performer, Young’s studio albums are chock full of Texas musicians lending their talents to her vision. Danimal Johnson, Ralph Barr,
Kelly Minnis & JD Brunson to name a few.
Mulit-instrumentalist and songwriter in his own right, Jake Waylon is the man behind the board at Rocket Pig Records having produced Young’s ‘Honky Tonk Eyes’ (2022) & her newest project ‘The Wimberley Flood’ (2025).
When she isn’t busy being mama to Clementine & James, you can find her on stage just a-breaking hearts. Some Texas haunts: The White Horse, The Old Pal, Adair’s, The 101, Starlight Theatre, Riley’s Tavern, Dosey Doe.
