About this concert
Big Bailey will be volunteering/hosting/performing/managing the bookroom By hosting an annual poetry slam competition, BlackBerry Peach hopes to both bring in new poets who are practiced at performance and at the same time encourage our existing members, primarily page poets, to improve how they give voice to the speakers of their poems. Competitors are expected from across the country and will be limited to 42 of the top spoken word poets plus 6 invited regional slam winners. The BlackBerry Peach National Poetry Slam is the sole qualifier for the U.S. representative at the World Poetry Slam hosted by WPSO. The BlackBerry Peach National Poetry Slam takes place in collaboration with the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (NFSPS) Annual Convention. All are invited to register for convention events as well as slam events.

BiG Bailey Biography

Tamell “Big” Bailey dreamed of being the world’s strongest man, an Olympian, and an architect—but instead, he built a career throwing words and lifting spirits. A poet, hip-hop artist, and tech geek with a Master’s in IT, he spreads humor, motivation, and positivity like jam on toast. Voted Best Male Poet and Motivational Speaker (IHA Awards 2024) and Best Album winner (Fairfield Music Awards), he co-hosts “Art of Words” monthly; and drops rhymes like dad jokes—consistently and with enthusiasm. When not rocking mics, he’s geeking out over Seinfeld, pineapples, and the purr of a happy cat.

Big Bailey has just been crowned the best male poet in the 2023 IHA Awards. His album “Never Quit On Your Dreams” has won the award for best album at the Fairfield Music Awards. He has won the Issa Vibe open-mIc contest presented by TracLayer. His single for his mother, "Johnnie Mae," won best inspirational music video at the Christian Georgia Film Festival. Big Bailey has been named the artist of the month for the Greater Augusta Arts Council. He has been featured in Southern Plug magazine, Voyage ATL magazine, Shoutout ATL magazine, The Aiken Standard, VPN magazine, etc... His poetry has also been featured on “The Digital Poet” website and the Aiken Poets’ Rhyme Time Anthology. He has done interviews with Brotha Trav presents Hidden Gems, Sunja Danette's Road Maps and Street Sign, INF Media's Heat in the Streetz, Studio 125, Ge Holla, Teatime With Tiya, The BangOut with Doc Bangerz, Cstar Legacy's Talk With Met, 600 Seconds with Hylo Arts, Newbie Vet with J.Paul the DemiGod, etc…

Big Bailey is currently promoting his single titled "Think Freestyle" and his music video for "No Neutral" featuring Lolita Pierre & Sa Jules. He is still pushing his award-winning 15-track album titled "Never Quit On Your Dreams," which was released on #BigBaileyDay #March26. Big Bailey has #BigBaileyMerchMonday, showcasing fans with the merchandise in his Big Bailey store at his website, www.bigbailey.com. He has also created an exclusive Facebook group titled Big Bailey OFFICIAL. He has released a hip-hop and spoken word album titled “Hey Fat Man.”
