About this concert

Mehmet Ergin Biography
Somewhere in the borderland between world music, classical music and jazz, Mehmet paints a universally valid picture with his music, leaving behind beaten paths and tearing down borders and barriers. Mehmet Ergin takes his listeners on a musical journey: Spherical, mystical and rhythmic, he combines elements of Western and Oriental music in which one can dive and lose oneself.
As a guitarist he already performed at the age of 23 with internationally renowned jazz musicians such as Albert Mangelsdorff, Joachim Kühn or Stu Goldberg and worked as a studio guitarist. Composition requests for countless commercials as well as the ZDF series “Geschichten aus dem Leben”, the soundtracks for the feature film “Anam” and the short film “Sores und Sirin” followed.
His CD “Beyond The Seven Hills” was, besides an Echo nomination for “Best Jazz Production”, chosen by the magazine “Scala” as one of the best guitar CDs ever. It was followed by “Tales from Enchanted Gardens”. Both were “CD of the week” at Klassik Radio and in the Worldmusic Charts.
Live or in the studio Mehmet Ergin worked among others with Wolfgang Haffner, Marcio Doctor, Peter Bolte, Zoltan Lantos, Claudio Puntin, G-Strings and Trilok Gurtu
