Flunk Biography
In late autumn 2000 coincidence put the three core members of Flunk together. Ulf Nygaard, producer and front man of a platinum selling Norwegian pop act, was working on some instrumental tracks. Jo Bakke came in to add some guitar, and later Anja Øyen Vister did improvised vocals the tracks.
Their debut track, ‘Blue Monday’, is still their most popular recording, included on lots of compilations, in several movies and even gave name to a ‘music genre’ in the early 2000s: Folktronica.
These sessions, after some serious cutting up and sorting out, became Flunk's debut album 'For Sleepyheads Only', released in 2002.
The album came at the height of the chill-out era, just after the success of Röyksopp. Good years for Norwegian electronic pop music.
Since the debut Flunk have toured the world, from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, St Petersburg and Istanbul, and two lengthy tours in China.
Late 2024 the band announced they will split after a last album, due 23 May 2025. They will do a last, farewell tour in May and June 2025.
