Carolyn Striho Biography
Carolyn Striho is a highly regarded Detroit songwriter, singer, musician and poet whose songs are “from the silver edge of midnight (All Music Guide).” She blends a rock and roll wild at heart gypsy folk with cabaret soul.
Carolyn was on The Grammy Awards First Ballot 2025 and in 2024, 2022 and 2018 for Best Americana Performance, Best American Roots Performance, Best Spoken Word Album, Best Rock Album and more. She has also won 11 Detroit Music Awards.
Carolyn’s toured with poet/rock icon Patti Smith in Michigan, Toronto, at Lollapalooza and in London U.K. She’s performed with Don Was/Was (Not Was), Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Slits, Ramones, Iggy Pop and Yoko Ono, Steve Earle, Tori Amos, Sinead O'Connor and performed several times in Italy and the U.K. and Japan.
Carolyn’s featured in the national book “Hit Girls” in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Revolutionary Women’s Exhibit.
There’s a new retrospective with Carolyn’s former Detroit Energy Asylum on Orchide Records which she fronted on vocals with renowned saxophonist Dave McMurray and Oscar Award-winning keyboardist Luis Resto. She and her husband/guitarist Scott Dailey continue to release new music and perform.
