About this concert
After four decades of producing, recording and performing high-caliber music, prolific rock foursome Stryper continues to relentlessly show itself as a renewed force with unquenchable firepower.
In addition to kicking off an ambitious 40th anniversary tour in fall of 2024, the group releases its 16th studio project, the triumphant When We Were Kings (Frontiers Music Srl), on September 13, 2024. The 11-track project fortifies Stryper’s signature sonic output by showcasing tight harmonies, riff-infused instrumentation and impassioned vocals.
Among the album’s most spiritually straightforward songs, hard-charging track “Trinity” speaks to the mysterious unity of the Father, Son and Spirit, while thundering tune “End of Days” addresses the last days prior to the apocalypse. Elsewhere, guitars loom large and a captivating chorus encompasses the title track focused on the futility of dwelling on the past.
Further song themes run the gamut from overcoming bitterness and showing mercy (“Unforgiveable”) to finding common ground in relationships (“Divided by Design”) and dealing with deceit and unfaithfulness (“Betrayed by Love”).
Stryper also has made solid progress on a much-anticipated Kickstarter-fueled documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a “Projects We Love” tag on the popular crowdfunding platform.
When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard-rock genre, Stryper is renowned for its trademark style of “heavenly metal,” remarkable crossover success and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like “Calling on You,” “Honestly” and “Always There for You.”
Stryper’s career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986’s standard-bearing multiplatinum release To Hell with the Devil. The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously in MTV’s Top 10 with videos “Free” and “Honestly.”
Today, over 40 years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, Stryper continues to record, tour and perform for devoted fans around the globe. Comprising three original members including brothers Michael Sweet (lead vocals, guitar) and Robert Sweet (drums), Oz Fox (guitar) and newest bandmate, veteran bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse), the group finds itself continuing to create their finest, most commanding music yet.

I was right in the Front Row & it was Epic !!! One day, a Customer came into the Gas Station where I worked (right outta High School in Long Island, New York back in 1985) and he said to me, "Hey Metal Head !! Check this out !" As he tossed a casette at me. It was STRYPER" Soldiers Under Command". I was into Much Heavier Metal at that time but I gave it a shot. I was pretty impressed. As time went on, I Don't know How I Missed them playing all over New York throughout the Years, but that's how it went. A few years later I got married & that becomes a Whole NEW World; then by 1999, we were off to Florida. We were following Both Sides of the Family and a New Job. Soon came Our Only Daughter & again, a Whole NEW Dynamic. Fast Forward to 2022 as I found a New Place to go just 10 minutes away in Fort Myers, Florida and from 2019 onwards, I was Now getting a chance to Re-Live All the "Glory Dayz". EVERYONE was passing through there & NOW ... Here comes STRYPER. I was NOT gonna Miss them this time!
From the First time I heard them in 1985 'til the FIRST TIME I'm getting to See them LIVE, "They were PHENOMENAL!!! Absolutely On Point!!" They All Performed & Sang like it was the 80's Again. They Did Not Disappoint. BTW: I've become a Guitar Collector over the years & I would have Loved to Meet the Band that Night & I was going to ask Michael Sweet if he would've Sold me that Incredible Looking Axe that he played that night. I couldn't even find pictures of it other than from that Show. Anyhow, If you've never seen STRYPER before, you're Truly Missing Out. I'm Hoping they'll Grace the Stage Once More in Fort Myers because I Will DEFINITELY BE THERE !!! 🤟🏼😎

Stryper Biography
Established in southern California in 1983, multi-platinum crossover Christian metal band, Stryper, continues to share their positive message and energetic stage presence with a passionate following throughout the world. Since the band’s inception over 30 years ago, the founding members have stayed true to their deepest convictions, turning from “the ways of the world” and following their hearts instead.
“In the past 34 years, we’ve evolved into what we are now,” says vocalist and guitarist Michael Sweet. “This is what we always really wanted to be. I love the progression. The story of Stryper is that of an underdog. We seem to go against the grain with everything we do, and our fans tend to be the same – They’re good hardworking people who believe in love, respect, and not conforming to the ways of the world.”
The members of Stryper have proven themselves as metal stalwarts, leaving an indelible mark on the genre with each new release. With such hits as “Calling On You,” “Free,” “Honestly,” and “Always There For You,” Stryper’s album sales now exceed over 10 million worldwide. Add to that one of the most successful Christian rock albums ever, 1986’s multi-platinum To Hell With The Devil, and the unique distinction of being the first band in history to notch two songs in MTV’s Top 10 with “Free” and “Honestly.”
The band has managed to leave an enduring impression on pop culture, as well. Singer Michael Sweet spent months trending online when he was identified as the doppelganger of 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who went on to discuss the comparison on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Several movies have paid homage to Stryper’s cultural significance, too, including Drew Barrymore’s “Whip It” and “Pain & Gain,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Since returning from a 12-year hiatus in 2003, Stryper has managed to release new music annually. Their most recent full-length album, Fallen [Frontiers Music SRL], reached #44 on the Billboard Top 200 and #2 on the Top Hard Music Albums chart. The group is now recording their next original album, which is due in April of 2018 and promises to be their most groundbreaking yet.
This year will also bring Stryper back on the road, where they’ll have a chance to connect with fans, new and old. The line-up still features three of the original members, including singer songwriter Michael Sweet, his brother and drummer Robert Sweet, and guitarist Oz Fox. Recently, the group welcomed iconic bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse), who will be joining them on tour.
“We’re excited about the next season of Stryper,” says Sweet. “ We have the best fans in the world and the band is at the top of its game musically and spiritually. We look forward to seeing everyone on the road.”
